tony jarrett
Hi , Can anyone help me, I fished the stretch of River Nene at Bluebell Lakes last week and found it quite tough, while its easy to catch small fry i didnt do so well catching anything else, bumped a couple of bream. Can anyone give me a few pointers to be able to catch some decent fish. I fished mainly down the middle and three quarters across,. If i went near the lilies i got a lot of streamer weed. i would like to be able catch some nice bream and chance of a carp or two ,thank you
elmoputney
I work with a bloke who fishes the river there I will ask him, probably start using pellets and particles though would certainly help catch the bream and maybe a carp or two
greekskii
Persistence. River carp aren’t everywhere and move around a lot. Keep plugging away. Prebaiting will help but you need to follow them about. I’ve been on the Nene since the 16th, I found at least 6 carp sticking to a certain area. They’ve now moved upstream and stayed there for a few weeks. Find where they revisit regularly or the area they are staying close to for periods of time and then keep fishing. Start with small Hook baits and get bigger If the bream and chub are an issue.
