dayvid
Im pretty sure im right but wanted you to confirm this When buying a reel such as a Daiwa Crosscast 5500 , or 5000 the only difference is the 5500 takes more line on the spool than the 5000 ,the reels are the same size though

dayvid
Cut me in half and youll read Daiwa, i dont trust Shimano since they have started what i consider using inferior parts .
dayvid
I like their rods sea and fresh , i have the TLD reels for sea and they are great still as good as they were 15 + years ago , you buy a new TLD now and you will be lucky to get 3 years out of it , its their internal components that let them down now, hence why i wont look at new Shimmy reels . buzzbomb
Except for D.A.M. Quick all the major manufacturers have made inferior quality reels for the cheap market; I've never seen a bad Quick reel. I have Shimano xte-a 10000 and rate them excellent. Since they're discontinued you have to sniff them out second-hand. carpmachine
bluelabel
I had a pair of Shimano Hyperloop 2.75lb FA's and they were a cracking pair of rods... I used 'em in France and they were brill... bit dated now though.... I think I still have one up the shed... but their reels are superb... I have 5 Shimmies... a pair of old 5000RE and 3 XTE10000's I won't part with 'em
