phildalton1982
Morning, was fishing away as you do and went to cast, realised something wasn't quite right. My reel seat had become loose, it just turns/spins. Any ideas how to fix it?? Was thing glue but cant get to it due to varnish and pretty thing! spr1985
Sounds like it may have been over tightened, how old are the rods? Could be a manufacturer fault.....maybe take it back to retailer for replacement Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk B.C.
phildalton1982
Have emailed em, see what happens, think it needs re glueing Sent from my LG-H955 using Tapatalk spr1985

phildalton1982
It doesnt look different, thats the prob, the whole thing turns while reel is on it. So say you cast, the reel ends up not where it started Sent from my LG-H955 using Tapatalk
phildalton1982
Yes mate, all varnish is still intact, short of taking it apart i cant see a way to fix it. Plus side they've discontinued em so the shop i got em from has doubts i can get a replacement Sent from my LG-H955 using Tapatalk
chillfactor
Normally reel seats are part of the structure of tge rod ... & is basically where your two sections join ie the butt section & first section of the main rod , obviously not the case with your rods Phil ? Sounds like it's just a sleeve as such over the blank ? Post a pic .
phildalton1982
Pointless posting a pic chill, its like every other reel seat Sent from my LG-H955 using Tapatalk

chillfactor
Think i'm wrong with carp rods being two separate sections , was thinking there the same as barbel rods think the modern reel seats just slide down into position. Not sure now lol
salokcinnodrog
The reel seat is basically just a sleeve over the butt section, not many rods have a section join under it. On many rods there is a duplon section above the reel seat, just in front of the reel, as basically the rod manufacturers want you to feel good holding on the rod. If there is nothing below the reel seat, towards the butt, it should be possible to slide it down and reglue it, but use a decent two part glue. However, cheaper or foreign manufactured rods can be a problem, because the reel seat may well be over a sleeve, and the sleeve over the rod blank. chillfactor
spr1985
Mate! At that price for a real seat you want to be going back to the retailer/manufacturer and demanding it is sorted out. How old are the rods in question? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Sent from my LG-H955 using Tapatalk Little bit of consumer knowledge for ya mate, you bought them as a set and therefore send them back as a set and get a refund on all three of them......or as they are discontinued they should replace with the equivalent/newer model. spr1985
I believe it depends on what the deal is between the manufacturer and the dealer, does the manufacturer give the dealer the stock to sell and gives them a cut/ or does the dealer buy the stock from the manufacturer and sell for profit. also depends on who the warrantee is with again manufacturer or dealer Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

phildalton1982
Email from distributor, went straight to them, then emailed that to shop, im not silly, i didn't want em pulling a fast one Sent from my LG-H955 using Tapatalk
spr1985
My next move would be, take all three rods to the shop, explain the situation on the one rod, if/when they say it's discontinued and cannot replace it you simply say "well I bought them as a set of three and as you cannot replace it they all need refunding/replacing for the equivalent/ comparative model. If they decide to make things awkward I normally say "not a problem, thank you for your time . My next port of call is trading standards and social media" it's surprising how quickly some companies change their tune at that point Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk David_Ridgers
phildalton1982
Funnily enough after i sent them the email they rang me! Just add its an ebay shop, he said they discontinued them but he'll find out if they have a butt section they can send me. Failing that o need to send the complete rod back. Looks like i wont be doing that spr, cheers bud Sent from my LG-H955 using Tapatalk
