Hi all

I am at a bit of a dead end and I would like the help of the masses. (I hope this is the right part of the forum - apologies if not)

It's my dads 60th birthday in June and I would like to surprise him and take him fishing somewhere a little special for a 24 or 48hr session (48hrs is my limit so france is out). Unfortunately I had no luck getting through on the redmire phone wars day and the tall trees lake is all booked up.

Do any of you guys have any recommendations on any quiet little slices of carpy heaven that can be booked in advance for a weekend or weekday session? As I say, I have tried redmire and tall trees but no joy. I am not aware of any others, but I am hoping you guys are. It's easy to find day ticket waters but unless you have first hand experience its tricky to choose the right place for such an occasion. PM if preferred. The backup is linear, but to be honest I was looking for somewhere more 'special' than that. We are in buckinghamshire but I'm willing to travel.

Thanks in advance.

Tim (MODS, apologies if this is in the wrong place etc)

Cheers guys, apologies for not seeing this sooner. Haven't managed to log in for a bit. I've done some research into little farriers and I think its the one I'm going to go for. Thanks for your help.

I've moved this into UK Where to fish section

This thread may also help:

I would also suggest Taverham Mills in Norfolk, may be a fair drive to you though. http://www.taverham-mill.com/

Other places I can think of, quite difficult with very few carp, but some cracking tench (I believe it had otter problems in the past, but none there at present), Horcott near RAF Fairford. Season Ticket costs the whole sum of £16 last season, and the bailiff is on the bank almost all the time. (http://www.spotfish.co.uk/fishery/horcott-angling-club)

Tim, you won't regret it mate. It's a cracking place to be.

My son had a 32.8 common from there, unblemished and probably never seen a hook before.
