rossy1974 Posted March 16, 2007 Report Share Posted March 16, 2007 Hi all, im off to the monument in may and the bottom is clay, what would you recommend for the rigs ie hook lenghts i have some korda IQ flouro and ive some 25lb SUFIX SHEATH SKIN BROWN, will these be ok on a clay bottom ie not stick out like a sore thumb and spook them off. what you think guys? what would you ise on this? stoogi Posted March 16, 2007 Report Share Posted March 16, 2007 its been a while, but i used esp striptease, in brown on 1 rod & maxima on the 2nd. the only fish i had came to the esp. to be honest, it was more likely location than hooklink, that did the trick. carpkingdan Posted March 16, 2007 Report Share Posted March 16, 2007 last time i fished the monument i had success on a length of esp leadcore, followed by a standard knotless knot silkworm rig about "5 inches long. also i find korda iq stifflink to be one of the best stiff links around.ideal for pop ups 2 inches off the bottom with a flouro. Use exactly the same coated braid but in 15lb on my syndicate water and it blends in well but then the clay is the browny sort as opposed to the grey/blue stuff.
