hi mate, theres no set length fo a hooklength. im always playing about with short and long hooklengths and short and long hair lengths? if your just starting out mate id probably use a 6inch hooklength then have a play around with lengths till you find one your happy with and its catching fish :D

I agree with studley, it can all depend on where you are fishing! I have a range of long and short hooklinks in different materials but stick to one or two types of rig pattern. My maxim is always simple is best, especially if you are new to carp fishing. Braids in anything from 15-25Ib strength would be fine and flourocarbon links between 10-15Ib. If you do a search for rigs on here you will get some good advice....Good Luck!

do you needs such heavy line of the reels? every thing depends on your target size fish,

as above hair rigs up to 25lb breaking strain braid are not uncommon due to braids thin diameter, making your own is fun and rewarding, as you can change the over all length, or the hair length etc to try and up your catch rates

good luck
