stephengreen20
hi chaps, im new to the forum so please be gentle. im looking to go to france for my first time next summer. we have a party of 5-6 people some good anglers some more novice and we need a venue to suit both ranges so i.e. plenty of runs of the novices but some nice 30-40lb fish for the better anglers. ive been looking on the internet day in day out for weeks and its now getting a bit stressful but i dont want to just book anywhere only to disappoint everyonne. so far i like the look of mirror pool fisheries - mayflower pool, carpe d'or - napoleon 1 and carp runs moulin de bley. am i totally off the mark with these venues for what i need? thanks in advance guys
mrs_rusheslake
My first piece of advise would be to look for somewhere you can book exclusively, it is nice having something to yourselves and where the novice anglers arent pressured by other anglers not in your party. An exclusive lake also means you can move about. I am sure you are almost 'googled out' by the choice out there, but word of mouth is always the way to go.... websites can look flash and wonderful when the reality can be far from it. Also try and choose a lake that is legal.... has a siret umber and has proper contact details and a lake address. There are a number of lake owners who sponsor the forum who would be ideal for you... click on any of their banners.
carp_warrior
Edens Lakes! I have been to a number of lakes in france seen as I live here. I have got to say that Matt, the fishery owner, he is simply a great guy! he comes round to have a chat with the anglers and will tell you where to fish to maximise your chance of catching and whilst I was there, the fish were out of my range and he helped me reach them and I caught! cant offer anywhere as nice as there and a group of us are going there again later this year

stephengreen20
yes totally googled out and your right every website makes venues sound amazing, so im finding it really difficult to choose and with no first hand experience i dont know which are the genuine article. edens looks nice, good stock levels for the size of the lakes i think. blavet also look lovely with some monster fish in it by the looks of things so thats two venues to consider. the responsibility of finding somewhere to suit all abilities is a hard one, dont want to let anyone down. feeling the pressure
icemaster
Have a look at Angling lines, loads of venues which cater for all requirements, not only fishing but also food packages etc, they arrange your travel and tbh my trip this year cost me less booking with them than the venue that I would normally go to, and we got a refund because the exchange rate had got better. Will definately be booking with them next year

tony1971
m8 to be honest y not check out some of the carp magazines they do tend to give you lots of choices and you and your mates should make the choice togeth and all agree coz if it all goes wrong m8 the last thing you want is it all cumming back on you there are a number of good new lakes available as well as some older more established ones but be warned in some of the older lakes the carp are a lot smarter and a lot wiser in my oponion. i
mrs_rusheslake
Have to disagree strongly tony.... making a decision by looking at an advert in a carp magazine is definitely NOT the way to go. Personal recommendation is.
stephengreen20
i suppose magazines would maybe point out a few more fisheries ive not seen before but as mrs rusheslake says i wouldnt just book it from a picture id have to do research on them first. glossy pictures tell a good story but a true story it may not be. will take a look though see what i can find, although newish fisheries i.e. 1-2 years old would be more appealing i think
