  1. have a look at carpzone website. they do a 1 man bivvy that comes with all the extras you would find on a much more expensive bivvy, i have the 2 man verysion and its a top bit of kit. vents in the back, the whole front comes off, interchangeable doors (mozzy mesh, clear plastic or the same material the bivvy is made from. and it also comes with an overwrap for winter for that price. they also do a great range of beds. ive just purchased the lake longer plus for £130 but they do another one for £90. most of my kit comes from them and i havent been let down by any of it.
  2. ive been playing with the new korda dark matter braid, very heavy for a braid, very supple, ideal for a bag. id use that with a weight/putty at your desired distance from the hook to get the pop up presentation your after.
  3. nice one man. ill show the lads the website on our trip this weekend. thanks again.
  4. Hey guys, After a long break and having to buy everything from scratch this year I'm now looking at spod and marker rods. My current carp rods are 3.5lb Daiwa longbows. I love these rods, the tackle tart in me wants matching longbow spod and marker rods. This Is doable but will take a while to get as they are over £200 each, when you add reels and braid it just goes up and up. I'm starting to realise that in my current situation that amount of money is just to much much considering what I've spent over the Las couple of months rebuilding my kit. I have noticed the Daiwa emcast and whisker spod rods are a lot cheaper. Do you guys think that these cheaper Daiwa rods will be ok? I'm no big caster, even on a large water I be more comfortable finding features in short range rather than ove 100 yard. The one thing I don't want is to buy a cheaper spod rod then find out they arnt going to keep up with my longbows. If you don't rate the emcast or whisker spods can you recommend any others for under £100. Dovii!
  5. it looks a beauty. i love my in close intimate fishing so this place looks good.
  6. t5hat sounds right up my street mate, ill have a look, thanks.
  7. exclusive lakes are defo an option. dont get me wrong there has been times where the swims have been dead and its done my nut in to be tied to an area of the lake, im currently looking at syndicates for myself so i can get a campaign going and fish on my own with the option of being able to move. we are quite lucky on our current lake as its only 5 acre and the size and nature of lake means unless in extreme weather you would be very unlucky to not get a chance at the fish moving through on a 48 hour.
  8. i was waiting for this, thought it would have been CM we fish in a group on socials, we have had problems before where we have turnt up somewhere after a very long drive and had to fish a million miles from each other. if i was to like the look of a lake then returning on my own would be better if i could be mobile and move onto fish. while i know this is what some will say lazy fishing, but it is as much about having a laugh on these socials as catching fish.
  9. hey guys, currently looking at options within a 100 miles of london. most of my fishing is done on socials, a right laugh but can be a headache trying to find lakes that suit everyone. there are a few boxes that need ticking and to be honest im struggling. below is a list of things that 1 or more of the guys i fish with are looking for. lake size up to 20 acre allows night fishing swims available on a pre booking basis the lake doesnt need numerous fatties but a few 30lb + fish decent food both breakfast and dinner within 100 miles of london and thats about it. we are not after a heavily stocked venue, and something a bit scenic, more of a mature venue. thanks for any info, Dovii!

    Zig rig

ive never used zigs. got myself some pre tied korda ones to try out on my next session.if i get on with them ill buy all the bits to tie em myself.
  11. hello mate, i have the carpzone hurricane 2 man bivvy. at just £200 with winter overwrap included its a bargain and comes with all the extras you find on much more expensive bivvy`s. nice big peak, vents in the back, also in the overwrap, makes a huge difference in the hottest nights. it really is a quality product at a good price. the whole front can be unzipped aswell. defo worth a look if you are still interested in one. it is huge, you could fit 2 x nash wideboy beds in there with room to spare.
  12. id love to take my staffy with me but there would be a few less baby ducks running around this time of year. she is great with people, especially kids, but anything else thats running around the lake will end up on the menu. every time i go i think to myself ill take her this time but in reality its not worth the hassle, i go fishing to chill out not chase her around the lake.
  13. I'm thinking of having another crack at Thorpe lee. My last session there resulted in a blank. Once we left the baliff informed us that boilies don't work there. That info would have been handy as we were arriving not leaving. Anyone got any tips on this venue? Dovii!

    PB cat 30lb

i know a lot of carpers find catfish a nuisance, but id be happing catching either. nothing in the Uk can fight the way a catfish can. this fish took me over 30 minutes to get in. caught on 3.5 daiwa longbow rods, they were bent in half, nothing left in em, all i could do was hold on and let it take line. the hardest fight i have ever had.
