i must have been confusing silvermere with somewhere else price wise. ill send an email and see about the waiting list. it is a shame mate, my brother got offered a ticket a few years back but turnt it down like a doughnut. im gonna check out walton now. after chatting with nick and some reading online i do think that lea valley is the place for me tbh.

im actually in kingston, new malden. ive had a look at silver mere, if i remember rightly its £650 per year plus a £50 entrance fee, i want to start fishing a couple of nights per week so the entrance fee will soon add up and with the initial membership its a little steep over the year. ill check out the others you mentioned though. the barwell info you have heard is the same as ive heard, apparently its hardly fished as well, same old fellas just dont want to give up their tickets. i know a fella who had tickets for it a few years back when it was winnie hill, he stopped fishing as it had a few 30`s but they just were not gaining any weight due to the lack of bait going in. shame considering the slim pickings as far as lakes go around here.

the lakes there look spot on. i noticed there are a few season tickets available on a few lakes. are the lakes there ever fully booked, is there a chance of buying a ticket and turning up to a full lake?

essex is a big old place. if its close to the surrey end of essex id defo be interested. traffic can be a nightmare from this end and with work hours id be guaranteed to hit rush hour traffic on a friday for a weekend session.

thanks for the info androoooo, i havent ever looked at club waters. ive just had a quick glance at the 2 mentioned. is there any limit to the amount of members for these types of clubs. the price seems very good but that worries me a little as im trying to get away from crowded waters.

hey guys, its finally time for me to make the jump from day tickets to a syndicate. my current lake, ive fished for 5 years is getting over crowded and is attracting the type of people id normally try to avoid. to be completely honest i have no idea where to start when it comes to a syndicate. ive been on google but cant find what im looking for, most of the best advice ive got for anything carpy has come from here so why not ask you bunch of noddy`s im based in kingston upon thames, i know there is a syndy very close to me, used to be called winnie hill, its now caleed barwell (something) but ive heard its impossible to get onto. im after something thats as close as possible but obviously has to tick a few boxes. preferable counties: surrey west sussex east sussex hampshire willing to go further for something a bit special. preferable lake features: any size, im use to smaller lakes so something a bit bigger could be interesting ideally some basic facilities, toilet being the least. something that doesnt have a huuuuuuge waiting list, id like to get on there early next year, maybe earlier its got to have a few lumps, im no big fish chaser but a couple of 40`s would be something to aim for. price wise..........something that wont get my missus asking for a divorce out but for the right lake im willing to risk it and thats it really. im having a hard time finding anything that ticks the above boxes so any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

i have and have alwaysed used the korda hooks and hooklinks, ive yet to find better. but im sure others will think different.

for me it would have to be the standard knotless knot hair rig for bottom presentation. id use a wide gape hook pattern for this and n trap soft hooklink material, i like to use a kicker or small piece of heat shrink on this hook as it turns much more aggressively. for my second rig it would have to be Darrel pecks pop up rig, its the most simple pop up rig you can tie (easily found on a google search). for this rig i would use a choddy hook and n trap stiff hooklink material. for me the 2 hooklinks above cover just about any presentation i need to, and tie my other favorite rigs. as for the hooks, the wide gape pattern has landed me more fish than anything else, although i have to say that i have played with the krank hook and im a big fan of that also. as for the choddy hook for pop ups, ive found nothing that sits better. a note on the wide gape, i used korda kaptors first, they very the sharpest hooks ive had straight out of the packet but i did have more than a few bend on me, i now use the wide gape x from korda, ive never had any issues with that hook.

Thanks cm. im not after the fish finder part of it, i want to see the features as you say and depth. i know this is all achievable with a marker float but i find myself getting more and more into the finer details these days, want to know exactly whats down there. on my current lake my favorite swim in a tiny bit of water, now im using my distance sticks and clipping up religiously ive found that even though i know the average depth and i know this lake is just clay and silt with next to know weed ive found 2 spots, literally a dustbin lid in size that have produced the best session of my life, best out of anyone who i have fished with on this lake, and they have been fishing it for years. but literally a foot outside these 2 tiny spots and nothing. its doing my head in, there is no difference in depth or lake bottom. now im thinking about it i think id be better off with that fish spy camera jobby.

thanks yonny. im not after a regular water that is like this. more of a once a year for a week sort of thing. me and the guys i fish with have been talking about France but tbh some just cant afford it or want the hassle so looking for the next best thing, something with a chance of a monster but for a lot less money and hassle than France to keep everyone happy. do you know the actual size of the lake? how many swims? nothing on the website about it.

hey guys, i was reading some articles on marker floats last night, i stumbled across one in which an angler mentioned a "humminbird smartcast", after having a look at them and seeing exactly what it was, its a depth finder/fish finder. im not interested in the whole fish finder part, but really like the whole depth finder part. i nearly purchased the deeper one a few months back, but at over £150 it was just to much. ive found these humminbird smartcast ones for nearly half that. anyone used one or have any info?

Anyone got any info on Strawberry fields based in Kent. i fount this place on a carp lake comparison type website. not much info on there on the the official website. a bit pricey at £35 for a 24 hour but does state it has some truly monstrous fish. any info would be great. keeno.

hey guys, i was having a chat with a mate last night. we have both been looking at a change in lake which would mean we need our first spod and marker set ups. after doing loads of reading, a fair bit of it on older threads on here ive come to the conclusion that we dont need a shock leader, just go for a higher breaking strain braid. from what ive read more than few people use 30lb braid on its own. this got me thinking, why not use a 50lb or 80lb, surely it would be stronger and make loosing spombs/spods less likely. but my mate said that if that was the case then why doesnt everyone use 50lb or 80lb. its widely availible, very cheap stuff. this got me thinking, could it be thats its just overkill, maybe it will effect distance. its one of them questions that got us both coming up with different answers so i thought it best to ask on here before committing to a certiain breaking strain. so my questions are: am i right in presuming that most people dont use shockleaders? what is the most commonly used breaking strain? (we are both looking at large spombs) if people are using only braid then why are people not using the heaviest breaking strain they can get away with? thanks, keeno!

ive got a corn snake, as there is no swearing on here i cant tell you her name, she is an evil little thing. ill try get a pic up in a bit, but she`ll probably eat the camers lol.

hope you are enjoying your holiday mate! love the praying mantis and if i see that spider in the first pic running around the room id be hiding under the blankets while the missus deals with it. at the moment she is a sub adult, still bigger than most normal tarantulas, she currently destroys large locusts and dubai roaches, she will eat 5 in one sitting is i let her. as for when she gets bigger ill be feeding much the same tbh, ill give her pinky (frozen mice) once a month as a treat but that sort of thing if fed to regular will cause more issues than its worth in some of the larger tarantulas. im currently looking to get the goliath birtd eater, its the largest in the world, mine is the second largest in the world. there are a few bird eating species out there that will all reach over 20cm.

thought id share my creepy crawlys. the best bit im actually petrified of anything with 8 legs lol firstly my burgandy goliath bird-eating tarantula, still a baby at the moment but can grow to 25cm, her name is freya. and secondly my much smaller Chilean rose tarantula who my daughter named barbie lol.

im a fluro guy so cant comment on braid or mono. what i will say is i like to use the heaviest possible line i can get away with, this will depend on your lake choice, my current lake has cats to over 100lb, ive never caught one but if i did i like to think my line is up to the job. if i lost a fish due to having line that wasnt up to the job id be kicking my self for years to come because you never know if thet fish will be the biggest to grace you landing net.
