  1. I guess with coated braids and fluro hook links the need for them is less and as you say they do look a bit clunky
  2. ok that's given me more confidence to use it, what about losing the anti tangle sleeve up at the swivel end, no need I guess with Fluro as its more rigid
  3. Hi I am looking at ways to use my IQ2 ( not sure if to use 15lb or 20lb ) to get the best out of the stiff material, but have a soft braid hair I know the combi rig, Albright Knot but what other ways can I make the hookink yet have a soft braid hair ? I have considered making a braid hair and when using the knotless know with the IQ2 trap the braid hair under it , how does that sound ?
  4. Noticed that people use hooklink anti tangle sleeves less and less now, I have always put them on put they are a pain when trying to slide the hooklink through a PVA Bag, the sleeve comes off in the bag ! Any reason they are out of fashion or are they deemed unnecessary ?
  5. Anybody heard how Kingfisher Thetford is fishing these days ?
  6. Thanks Bullet The other members have all been helpful, suggestions and which swims fish better and I have seen the pictures of the fish caught recently. Lets face it this is a hard time of the year for any venue regardless of stock. Funny thing is some say E lake is easier, others say Bobs ! I have sent you a PM
  7. Hi can you advise me about stocks on E and Bobs, I have recently joined and not seen much come out, have those lakes suffered to otters ? I love the place but yet to catch my first fish, great people up there and a very pretty place Adders
  8. I have just upgraded to Delkim Plus, yes they are worth it I would also look at a cradle if they were not in fashion two years back, they are now for sure Bon Chance !
  9. Seems to be a common plan in large waters, chuck in several kilos of bait and fish over it, to me that doesn't make sense especially in winter time I plan to try my simple single bait approach for a while and see the results plus the savings in bait Granted if you can pre bait a regular spot it is a proven tactic but if you havnt the chance to do this other methods are needed to catch
  10. Yes my main water is very special but also hard to catch, Middle Res was a nice break to test that a single boilie without any freebies will be enough to catch in a large venue. In the past I have been using PVA bags and always casting out with a small bag attached, I think winter time adding freebies such as this isn't the best tactic to catch. Funny thing was other anglers here often put in a lot of bait, today I had two pop ups and nothing else went in !
  11. Just a few words about this reservoir approx. 4 acres 14 ft deep outskirts of Bury St Edmunds and part of the Bury AA Although not many features and has steep banks, it has some very nice fish and decent stocks with carp to 30lb I joined for the winter ticket costing £32.50 ! as a back up water Very good value for money and worth a look but note this is not suitable for night fishing / bivvies as limited space and night restrictions unless agreed by the club and they do sell day tickets so summer may get busy with younger anglers etc I am very impressed with this basic reservoir and it blessed me with a 14lb common today in high winds and rain
  12. What size IQ2 would you recommend for hook links carp to 30lb on venues with minimum weed I was considering the 20lb , comments ?
  13. I understand, I too fish on my own but always chat to others for tips etc Some I ignore as tips others I use to my advantage I think carp fishing lends itself to going with a buddy as there is a lot of waiting time, however when fishing with a buddy you tend to 1. stay put in the same swims 2. choose swims together so you can chat 3. less focus on the fishing 4. less watching the water and moving My advice learn as much as you can about the right way and then do your own thing as to be different as long as safe to the fish Remember its fishing not camping
  14. Go fishing on your own, you will fish better !
  15. What about the added sink weight on Mono ? Would you add putty or nothing ?
  16. So if bottom bead is up the line and I do not need an indicator on the surface for freebies I can ignore the pva nugget I will look at using the Korda Naked rigs system on my Mono main line, any comments to that setup as I think its designed to be used on mono or fluro main lines. How far apart do you have the beads and long or short chod rigs ? I know how long is a piece of string but if you had to start somewhere which and what would you suggest ?
  17. Some years back rig tubing was a must Has it had its day, what can be used instead apart from Fluro main lines ?
  18. What do I need to make a chid rig without using leadcore leaders but my mainline is mono I know you can get Naked Chods but they seem to suggest Fluro only as mainline Any advice how I can do this without changing my mainline
  19. I have just joined Bury AA and plan to fish the Middle Reservoir They have two other smaller lakes for coarse fishing Anybody fished Middle Res ? Any tips ?
  20. Venue is small carp lake with stock 8lb to 25lb close range stuff approx. 6 ft deep in places
  21. Trying the chod rig tomorrow with chod rig leader etc They are the ESP leaders and Korda chod rig but my question is 1. On a fairly clear bottom where should I position the lower rubber bead 2. how far apart should the top stop bead be from the bottom bead 3. Fish slack lines or tight 4. if fishing slack what about drop backs ?
  22. Have you made the management aware of this at SWP ? I would be asking for maybe a free return trip
