  1. Rub it over your shirt or something just to warm it up a bit, that helps to prevent it feeling really wirey and spirngy. And as stated above, use hook pulla's or something similar to tighten them properly, it's also useful to just push / pull the knot into position with your finger nails if it's not going as intended.
  2. Don't know where you read that? But you can legally drive in any EU country with your GB licence. Although some countries have their own age restrictions, France being 18. However, I think you do need to get an International Driving Permit, which is £5 or so, you just need to be 18 to get one and have a GB licence. Check the DVLA website
  3. I use an Albright Knot, easy to tie and very strong. Should do the job for you! http://www.marinews.com/Albright-Knot-221.php
  4. You'd probably be surprised at the prices of some of the places in France, they're not all as expensive as you might think and most are on par with the prices of the "decent" venues in England. How old are you? Since you say you can't drive in France, but can in England? That must make you 17? I'd suggest looking at Skylake Fisheries in France - They do offer a pick up from Dover package, but that's when it starts getting expensive. As for england, try out some of the following: Cobbleacre Carlton Meres Anglers Paradise Docklow Pools
  5. Leadcore is just as safe as any other leader (Whether it be mono, tubing etc) IF used correctly and responsibly - But that's for another topic I tend to use a loop to loop knot for my leaders, makes for easier changing if needed and it's a good strong knot.
  6. Anybody know much information about this place? I've looked on their site and I've already searched this forum Just looking for a couple bits of info really, but mainly, how much is the season ticket?
  7. It's a nice area, with some decent fish in some of the lakes. However, they're pretty strict around there. Me and a couple friends went down there last summer to have a look around, though the bloke at the reception place basically told us we can't do that because of the residents. Apparently the residents always complain about the anglers making noise and walking on their gardens, so this means you can only fish limited swims, and will be lucky to be let out on your own to look round the lakes, unless your staying there.
  8. Sure sounds like a lovely place to fish
  9. There's a place pretty local to me, called Carlton Meres - http://www.carlton-meres.co.uk/ They have pretty nice accomodation, and a bar, tennis courts, gym etc - The usual holiday kind of stuff. They have 2 fishing lakes, with fish up to 40lb+ It's probably 1.5-2 hours from London, depending on what part of London you're coming from.
