  1. I used the horrible korda tubing in place of silicone on the hook, works a treat and its the only thing I use the stuff for.
  2. Those oxygen tablets you get for aquariums are potassium chlorate, very strong oxidiser, toxic and not nice stuff so I don’t think it would be them. Probably some kind of base like you get in effervescent tablets like sodium bicarbonate and citric acid with a flavouring or something. Cant see the attraction personally, just another gimmic.
  3. Iv been and looked around a few times but as yet I havent bothered fishing it as it has always been packed out in the summer mostly with holiday makers and noddies. It seems to recieve a lot of pressure and fish very slowly from what iv seen and heard and they guys in the tackle shop seem to greatly exaggerate the catch reports. I have seen a few fish show on my wanders around the lake but nothing above low doubles. As gidneyboy said, there are a lot better places to fish more locally.
  4. Cheers! I'm really looking forward to having a good weekend relaxing and catching up. Done a bit of research and its difficult to find many lakes with my exact requirements, most of them only allow week long trips or are too large/difficult to fish for my inexperienced brother and dad.
  5. I am planning a short session trip some time in October with my younger brother and dad to celebrate my brothers return from Afghanistan. I am looking for a reasonably priced lake within about 3 hours of Calais that fishes fairly well in October (preferably located to the south). I'm not overy bothered about the size that the fish run up to as long as we are not going to be catching lower doubles/singles constantly. One of the main issues is that my brother and father are not experienced with many of the finer points of carp fishing such as rig mechanics, bait placement, feature finding or finding the fish themselves so it would have to be a reasonably easy lake to fish at this time of the year and not be too large but also provide myself with some kind of chalenge and target to fish for. Basically a lake of 3-8 acres in size which will not be too busy, with varying depths, good selection of swims, good scenery and a good head of reasonably sized fish which are not over pressured. Does anybody have any sugestions? This would probably be for a Thursday/Friday-Sunday/Monday trip
