  1. you'll love it mate, let us know when your on your way.
  2. price is about the same (depending on exchange rate) availability is non existent as I only know of one outlet, they do Korda, free spirit and fresh bait (in fact I know them very well check out that link I posted) I would still recommend bringing what you can though as you might as well. Fish are certainly not riggy, keep in mind that most Australians would kill a carp if they caught it and I would estimate that there are somewhere between 50-100 specialist carpers in Australia (a continent the size of north America) currently who return their catch. Hence it is fair to say that most of the carp that are still swimming have probably not been caught before. Honestly mate, there is a lot of pioneering going on over here, if you want a swim to fish from make one, fishing is free (you only need to pay for your licence) there is no such thing as a day ticket or syndicate water they simply do not exist. if you have a bit of adventure about you, you will have a ball, if you like manicured swims, not so much!
  3. average size is mid to late double largest fish I know of being caught that is still swimming is 43lb most would class a mid 20-30 as a really good fish (if weights are your thing?) they fight like raging bulls and most of them have not been caught before or at least not very often. As I said let me know when you come over, more than happy to give you some help.
  4. Aussie carpin is still in it's infancy as far as development of a "scene" but it is growing, try and think less UK now and more early savey years and you will be somewhere close. very few freshwater anglers and even fewer carp fishermen. pretty much the only time you will see another carp angler on the bank is if you have arranged to meet them there If you have decent gear bring it over, keep in mind that anything that has touched the water will probably get pulled by customs so remove all line from rods and make sure that everything is spotless, nets wise buy new mesh for your arms and have it in the packet. end tackle wise bring anything you want but make sure that it is clean and still in it's packets. Customs here are seriously paranoid. to give you an example they even pulled a 60ml bottle of sweet ade as obviously intended to be used in the waterways and would be classed as pollution bait and end tackle wise they are avalable in Australia you just need to know where to look (maybe have a look here for some pointers? http://www.carp.com/carp-forum/viewtopic.php?t=53150 )particles, boilies, pellets all available locally, thank god, as you have an ice cube in hells chance of getting any in through the post
  5. Loads, both in the city and outside, all depends on whether you want fast easy fishing for "smaller" hungrier carp or to put a bit more time and effort in for larger, older and warier fish When are you coming over? Feel free to PM me if you want.
  6. Hi Bruce, Please don't take what I said as negative or trying to stop you doing it. The attitude of a lot of the fishermen in Australia (even the ones that are pro carp) is quite different than in the UK. I started importing Korda end tackle, free spirit fishing rods and also imported the equipment and started a boilie production facility (fundamentally I did it for myself and friends so we had access to good tackle easily) but opened it up to others, I actually found the reaction of some quite staggering as although some supported the idea and purchased stuff and some supported the idea and spread the word (no worries with that) but quite a few took it as a huge negative and actively went out to discredit me on some of the australian forums? it was bizarre! lots of fishermen here say that they wish they had this and that available locally but when you actually give it to them they either want it available locally and cheaper than it is available in the UK (not sure how they thought that was going to work?) or they just continue to buy from the UK direct as they don't seem to want to support local interests to see them grow. It is a bizarre situation mate, but just something you should be aware of, I don't let it bother me as I got the gear in for me and a few others, if people do not want to benefit from locally available stuff, let them keep losing stuff in the post and complaining that you can't get decent gear in Australia. Anyway mate, if you want to do it, go for it, I outlined the difficulties in my previous post but I guarantee that I for one and probably 20-30 other people that I know of would be interested. Most of these are people that are travelling to Canberra in a few weeks for the largest gathering of specialist carp anglers to fish together in Australia but I can't say to much, in this format, if you know what I mean

  8. It's a lovely idea but I honestly don't believe that there are enoigh carp anglers in Australia to make it a viable proposition. It's really a question of 1, how many specimen carp anglers do you think there are? 2, how many of them do you think would be able (geographically) to fish the lake? 3, how many would pay the money when they can go and catch known fish up to mid 40's for free, with the prospect of an unknown whacker a serious possibility? not trying to wee on your chips just pointing out that it is a seriously niche market that is certainly not spoilt for choice for free, the project would need to have a fairly serious POD, as Steve said Bogan free, nice surroundings, serious head of large fish, decent facilities and I am sure that some would be interested (small syndicate for instance) myself included all depends on the associated costs I suppose.
  9. Thomas I am really disapointed, I was just looking at fishvictoria and have found you posting some of these pics in a thread called carp cullathon. any explanation?
  10. jimjimracing, Do you want to make floating baits or do you have floating baits and you want to know why they are floating?
  11. Carp can also go into PH shock if the PH of the water changes by a large amount in a short period of time which can be fatal. People can suffer with this when they have an open pond environment.
  12. I reckon you could have ended that sentence at Have they thought...........
  13. Gents, I am trying to make a bait to avoid eels and have been informed that enervite with mexican onion oil could be a good option. The problem is that i live in Australia and we can neither import enervite or buy it off the shelf. the oil I can import no worries but the base mix just simply wont get through. Has anyone got any suggestions as to what the main ingredients might be? Please note that other items such as robin red etc are not available either zo I am pretty much limited to supermarket/food stores and equestrian type suppliers. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
  14. Do you recomend a knot to attach a braided mainline to the safe zone leader or a loop? I am concerned about the braid (20lb gravitron) cutting the safe zone if tied with a knot?
