  1. its not fair to assume people would accept a free ticket to fish anywhere there are places and people i would not fish or fish with on principal if you offered to pay me, this point has now been removed 3 times without anyone telling me why , Joe and i know each other we are friends we pm each other regularly, we just dasagree over this one small point yet this post has been removed 3 times what is so offensive or frightening about it , if your going to remove it again please have the curtisy to explain why
  2. Of course you can - have a bead and swivel under the float and tie a weak bottom link and bomb to it. i can't see much point in abandoning leads at a £1 a chuck
  3. I thought you,d like that one, I've never used a boilie over a 16 mm its a confidence thing i've always preffered 2 x 10mm
  4. your a lot more experianced with hare's than me stoog, iwould naturally shorten the hair thinking its catching on the outside of the mouth maybe thats why you never fail and i lose fish my furry friend ,whats the longest you would make the hair?
  5. They are inadequate for what your trying to achieve,Tony
  6. thats horrendous it'll peck likea chicken in the wave action this rig works better if set up like a crane and hooks better if set up with a paper clip like a pike drifter
  7. in 20ft of water i had to put the hooklink on after casting with a link swivel
  8. You can't have a weakpoint to the lead cause the main line runs to it does'nt it had a go at setting it up today what a mess i don't think 20 years ago i was fishing a lake 20 ft deep using a tree branch as a rod rest i was looking to get it to work about 5 rod lengths, could only get it working at 2 , gave up freelined a doggie drifting on the wind eventually had a 12.07, i think i,d fed about a kilo to the rest of the carp they were like pirranahs , but so frustrating on the cotroller and the piece of stick.
  9. The main danger for breakages would be the force the hooklink hits the float hits the lead with ,i would incorporate beads to absorb some of the shock, i have had lots of big pike on float ledger rigs which are similer and i don't envisage too many problems.
  10. I have used this rig in the past and like most others if its set up correct then it is safe it should have a free running hooklength that rests on a stop knot ,the float is also free running so if you break off either below the float or above it the fish is only left with a hooklenght. Tony is right when he says its been banned on a lot of waters ,including some i fish ,the reason was not fish safety but because it was such a suc sessful method ! . it does'nt matter where you break off the fish can't be tethered ,think about it
  11. whats to stop the hooklink sliding down to the float?
  12. I agree , and if that fails i go to a piece of stick with a 3 inch hooklink , if that failed i'd go for a zig , if that fails igo for freelining with a stone and some freebies in a pva bag if that failed and ihad time i'd go for the stick with a braided hooklink this is after i've tried putting the bait on a hair and the hook, its another weapon in our armery and i'd like to be as proficient as i can be.Its hard for people to comment with any degree of authority on a rig they never used.
  13. Isn't 2ft a bit close to the float, what do you attach the hooklink to i used to use a paternoster bead now i'd use a swivel , don't you have to put a stopknot above the float to stop tow and wave action taking it up to the hooklink stop knot? sorry if i'm being thick again
  14. Help has anyone ever fished Trebbelan country park ,i no nothing about it .
  15. Used this rig many moons ago may use it again later in the week Thanks
  16. How do you know how long to make the hoklength?
  17. Makins to the best of our knowledge with 18 lakes and no scabby fish has been sold off , Commercial fisheries generally have silly stocking levels ,no or low predator levels ,stupid rules like no surface fishing, fish harming rules like barbless hooks maybe if some of them go to the wall the customer will get a better deal they have had it too good too easy for too long.
  18. I've never fished Cuttle Mill and from what i've read i don't want to . Thats my opinion. If i don't know about a place , i say no to it. Theres lots of places to fish where the carp arn't scabby whatever the reason .
  19. Welcome, use the search engine im sure it will help.
  20. Your only using 3 to 18 inches at a time if you use braid and the bottoms silty use a permanent marker to colour it black or it'll stand out like a sore thumb, ive got silkworm, suffix ,snakeskin, stiff rig and all sorts they catch more anglers than fish including me . I would say beware of cheap braid a mate got me some from Wisbech market ,i had loads of takes ,but landed few fish ,i blamed every thing but the braid ,questioned knots i had tied for years, swivels cutting it everything ,by the time i narrowed it down my confidence had tottally drained ,you imagine hitting runs expecting to lose the fish ,i don't know how many 20's it cost me ,but i caught more 20's than doubles on the water and the smallest fish i had was 11 . I'm just one of them thick brummies.
  21. You can also lassoo them on
  22. Inexcuseable, we 've got to back the fishery here ,stopped using it 12 months ago.
