  1. any one know what the carp stock is. how many 20's and 30's? also any pike?
  2. just off the a38 sign posted branston water park. before the slip road for burton on trent coming noth on a38. you cant miss it on google map its 66 acres. with 3 islands
  3. burton mutual have loads of the river dove and a little of the trent. i've done a 13lb barbel of the dove. i mainly fish for carp and done a 30lb 2oz mirror out of brandston. but if weed isn't your thing then dont fish branston. the've also got a pool about 2acres full of wild carp. great fun to keep you busy until you hit into the bigger residents (only a hand full of 20's) the also have a few other carp pool that i havent fished but my friends said they're good. the canal they hold had done carp to 26lb to. hope this helps buddy.
  4. hi all. i've just signed up for membership with the CS. i've tried searching the threads but all this info is a little dated. can anyone give me any details on stock levels (just the 20's and 30's) and how busy does it get mid week from spring to autum. i have fished the venue before the freeze and spoke to few locals. from the word go i got the impression they was chucking me a curv ball and was trying to put me off. the web site CLAIMS 70 30's and yet the locals said its more like 20 to 25. other comments like ''this place isn't that good mate'' and other stuff. this just makes me think 'then why are you here' any advice or PM's are most welcome
  5. bluebell lakes mate. there's 4 lakes there from a runn's water to a slit your throught because you havent had a bite in a week lake. their web site is good. beutifull place to fish
  6. hi all, just wondering if anyone has experiance with the alamo and l-shape pegs at orchid. i'm going for a week in april. on the web site these pegs look like they have alot of water so.............worth the extra money?
  7. hi all, i'm sorting out a 7 day session in april for me and 2 mates. was gonna do sandhurst but dont think they're keen. i've heard alot of people mentioning catch 22. anyone got any info? is it worth the visit?
  8. next time you drive past stop and get the info on the gate. membership is by post application only. the lake holds a decent amount of carp mid to upper 20's and some MONSTER zander! i only fished it 3 or 4 times in 2008. just as i bought my ticket i got a place on a syndicate
  9. waiting list? i've never had to wait for a ticket
  10. following a debate with friends: if you could only choose 1 day ticket water that give you the best chance of a 30+, what one would it be? i chose sandhurst (yately) but they shot me down
  11. hi all. i'm interested in fishing watermark fisheries in the cotsworlds (bradleys lake) has anyone got any info or past experiances? also, do they allow bait boats? it looks a big lake with alot of carp (well that's what the web site says). i'm looking for a new lake. i'm dropping off sandhurst due to the amount of anglers on at one time.
  12. what makes you think it is the size of the hook that is causing you to lose fish? As if that is the case then why use a smaller hook? I would use a larger hook, say a size 6. Just make sure that the hook is sharp (see if it bites into your nail), and also the placement of the hair and you could possibly try a different shaped hook as i cant really comment on a kurv shank hook as i have not used them, i use the korda hybrids with a bit of silicone tubing to give that slight angle to help the hook turn. Just something you could try. Also at what point are you losing the fish, just after the take, mid playing it or at the net? And the fish that you do land where would you say that the fish is hooked? top, bottom, side, deep or just on the lip? Slight alterations to the hair will make the hook catch in different positions on the lip. i'm loosing the fish on the initial take. i wanted to make the hook smaller because the lake i fish is fished alot and pressure is high. a hook as big as a size 8 next to 3 maggots must stick out like a sore thumb. i'm probably talking rubish. i just think that every little helps!
  13. just wandering how small of a hook you guy's are willing to use when fishing for large carp (30+). i've been using hair rigged maggot for a while with size 8 kurv shank's. not had much success so went to a size 14 kamazan but keep loosing fish. any thoughts?
  14. like binfield said. try south lake. i've moved onto this water since sanhurst has started to get a hammering. i'm doing well on the south lake. 6 20's in 9 trips. biggest being 28lb. if you fish south lake then dont forget.......fish the margins. 80% of my fish have come from less than a rod length out. no small baits either. unless you like bream that is.
  15. i wouldn't bother. before the magazines got hold of this place the lake saw about 5 to 10 anglers mid week. recently the lake is being fished by around 16-20 anglers (mid week) the design of the lake makes it confined. 20 anglers + 3 rods =60 lines. WAY TOO MUCH FOR ME. i've recently seen a few heated debates over who's in who's water. there's always someone pushing the boundry's with their bait boat. try bluebell ''kingfisher'' since benson died there's been alot less pressure
  16. £9 a day, £15 for £24 hrs. you can use 10 rods if you like the owner doesn't care. you have to pay something like £5 for a none fishing guest. i would recomend you stay clear of this place durring the weekend. its bivvy city
  17. i only use two baits a bluebell maize and the red peporami sticks. both produce very well. but be warned......fish maize in the deeper water and it'll be non stop bream!
  18. no mate. all lakes other than swan are mainly a nice hard gravel bottom. you can find the odd silt and weed patch but nothing to worry about. most of my fish on bluebell have come from under two rod lengths out. hope you have a good un!
  19. fish bluebell using maize in the margin works every time
  20. i first fished this lake 15 years ago. after 5 years i returned last week. firstly. the bayliff is a class 1 idiot, there's 1000's of rats and the roads round the lake will trash your car. the lake is fished by morons. a bit of common sense says if you choose a corner swim on a busy day then you cant just chuck to the island. its basic stuff. the fool heads in the swim next to me had their radio blasting till 5am. i asked them twice to turn it down and they just turned it back up and threw empty cans onto my peg (so on leaving i accidently drove over his landing net handle) shame! its like chav and bivvy city rolled into one. its such a shame because once upon a time it was a great place to fish. i certainly wont be returning. its a great advertisment for syndicates Edited to remove a naughty word. Please don't do it again
