  1. Does anyone know what happened to the bulk of the original fish in there?
  2. And it's quite clear from your post's that your only believe your opinion is the correct one. Fancy correcting my spelling when i was clearly making a quote! What an idiot. The op asked for people's thoughts and whether you agree with it or not i gave it to him! What you may think of my comments doesn't interest me. For the record when i choose a venue i like the chance of beating my pb. So you can stick to you pretty lakes with great facilties and small fish and i'll stick to my pretty lakes with great facilities and big fish.
  3. What i was simply implying is why fish a lake with a difficulty level that doesn't match the size of fish. If the op is happy to fish a long session for upper doubles with the very thin chance of catching one of the two 30's in there then thats fine, fill your boots. You said in a earlier post " do i expect carp to jump on my mat" I've been carp fishing for 30 years. I have no interest in fishing lakes like willesley when the rewards simply aren't in there. And as for assuming he wanted to catch 30's..... How many carp anglers do you know that get a screamer and think "bloody hell, i hope this ent a big fish"
  4. Who said anything about a whole in the ground. Why spend your time fishing for lower 20's when there's better venues with bigger rewards. If you're ok with fishing a tough water for lower 20's then keep going. Personally I'll stick with horshoe
  5. The people that are moving fish aren't paying for a ticket. The're poaching it. In the 4 year's i fished it i only baught a dog walkers permit and fished it off that. They give you a key fob for access and never check tickets
  6. For easy 20's I'd go to pine pool at Kingsbury water park. Although if you can't fish weedy waters forget it
  7. I live a stones throw and avoid the place. It has nice pegs, showers, cracking fish and its a stunning venue it just that its hard fishing for little reward. Theres a decent head of lower 20's but you'll do well to get any bigger. Think it only has two 30's
  8. What a wounder. i hope it at least wiped out the crays
  9. Hard to say with the carp. There's a group of morons that are steeling them and putting them into arrow valley and Earlswood. You then also have a group of people that are steeling from these lakes and putting them into sutton park and Salford. As for pike, I've personally had a 26 out and my pal has had a 28. The're easy to catch too
  10. I wouldn't fish either Orchid lakes has waaaaay too many pegs for the lake and it gets hammered. You often find yourself shoulder to shoulder with other anglers. There are main roads on 3 sides if the lake so expect alot of noise from lorrys screeching brakes and super bikes red lining as its a bikers route Linch hill also gets propa busy but the worst things arw the rats. They're the marine's of rats and ent scared of anything. I had a rat eating a squashed boilie off my shoe. I put my spod bucket on the hook of a life buoy post made out of shiny metal and they still know how to climb it!!!!!! What also grieves me is they charge you to take your gear to the lakes but drive you down a purpose built road. Why cant i just drive it down and drop it off? Oh and they forget to mention the crayfish I'd recommend horseshoe
  11. That's a strong possibility. Although one lad a few pegs further down decided to cast into his water whilst the bayliff had wound in and had a few off his spot.
  12. Because they've been the only pegs to produce and there's lots of fishes jumping out the water
  13. Because they've been the only pegs to produce and there's lots of fishes jumping out the water
  14. I've fished this place five times and i wouldnt go again. First of all they don't pay their bayliffs. They give them free fishing. On all 5 trips I've had to orchid the bayliff has had the best beg stiched up. There are main roads running round all sides of this lake and as its a popular bike route so be prepared to listen to sports bikes red lining all day and night. you also have to add the squealing of lorry brakes into the mix too The pegs are very close together and waaaaay to many pegs for the acreage. The pegs are also small so a small bivvy is needed. He charges to take your kit to the peg and throws it about like a British airways luggage handler. For the money I'd rather go to horseshoe or bluebell
  15. Almost impossible in the winter but as soon as spring comes its an easy water for those that are competent in fishing weedy waters. Most people blank purely because they're hell bent on finding clear spots. The weed is 1 foot deep around the islands and maragins so nothing a naked chod rig won't fix. Oh, they love sweetcorn too
  16. I fish this lake alot. My tips would be.... As temping as the carp park swims look, avoid them. They do a fish every now and then but every time I've fished there its been the most unproductive peg Slack lines are a must or at least a flying back lead I've had most my fish off 12mm white pop ups Dont bother looking for gravel or silt. You'll catch them anywhere People will say "dont spod, its the death" i spod all the time and have yet to blank
  17. hi all. looking for some info on this place. the info available on other threads is a little dated. has anyone been there recently. good and bad info would be great. many thanks dave
  18. me and two pals are off to france sept 17th 2011. just wonderering where to go. i've been carp fishing 20 yrs and my pals only 2. so below are the requirements no smaller than 8 acres. a good head a 30.s. HUGE fish would of course be nice but not importaint no more than 6 hr drive from calles personly i'd rather fish for 1 monster than multiple 30's but my friends would shoot me if i took them to a solid lake. the lakes that look good so far are valley lakes, castle lakes and my favourite lac fisherbil. any recommendations would be great
  19. you can night fish. there are not any rules for this place. buy tickets from the bayliff that drives round. about £15 for 24 hr. i wouldn't recomend it this time of year. it gets muddy
  20. if you mean the carp society's carp water then i'd say a spod rod is vital. not sure if the organisers provide them but the carp in horseshoe love the spod mix.
  21. does anyone fish this place often? i just want to know the fish stock and how busy it gets durring the week?
  22. the lake is 'Bayliss'' three lakes. the carp lake is the one with the island in. i used to fish this place from 1995 to 2004. i now only go once or twice a year. there's a very good head of 20's in there and rumors of a few 30's though i've never seen one. you will here alot of bad press about the lake about litter, rats and noisy anglers. however the last twelve months have seen a huge improvement. if you want to fish it then i'd recomend . avoiding weekends (bivvy city) . fish 2 rods in the margins and 1 on the island (all but 1 of my big fish have come from the margin) . use low vis fishmeal baits. no particles, stick mix or ground bait (you'll get bream after bream) . use little bait ( i use a 6 boilie stringer) .back leads . when you drive to the lake. fish the oposite side to the entrance. hope this helps. if you need anymore help then pm me.
  23. harder than sandhurst? your having a laugh. i find south lake easy. binfield if your the opposite then we really need to get together and exchange some tips. not in a gay sense i find sandhurst sole distroyingly hard!
  24. there's no waiting list for branston and you can fish all the lake. however, you do have to be in the club for a year until you can have a night permit. in my first year i still bivvyed up but told the bayliff that i'd real in before dark. (they do check) yately is in reading by london. 120 miles away. about 10 lakes. google search saphire lakes. its in newark notts. some good lumps in there mate. if you find any decent one's mate let me know
  25. i'm from tamworth. there ent many good waters round here. unless the cuttle mill comercial scene is your thing. i make the journey to yately every week. if your not up for that i'd recomend burton-mutual ac and fish a lake on their ticket called branston water park. a bit pit with about 200/250 carp. mostly 20's with 11 known 30's (but watch the dog walkers) or abit further a field is saphire lake's in nottinghamshire. also not many people fish the birmingham fazely canal. loads a carp in there
