  1. I was looking at a few rigs using hook beads and swivels instead of the normal hair rig and d rig. Has anyone found that using this kind a rig the bait presentation is any better or is there any negative effects for this. Basically i will use a micro swivel on the hook with a bead to stop and push the sivel through the bait and tie up with dental floss this is something im considering using when doing pop-ups. It seems very simple but just after peoples thoughts who may have used this kind of presentation. thanks crofty
  2. i presume it could get busy at weekends with day ticketers but there is two lakes so if you dont fancy one the other may be worth a go. At the moment you are lucky to see one other there just the way i like it
  3. dont really know mate as people who were fishing when i have all had same idea as me as i use belvoir for when it gets colder or for a few fish when i blank on my syndicate down south. Shane the baliff said he has had a few out of the top.
  4. i use bags and if i am fortunate to get a quickie i tend to put a couple of handfuls of loose baits about. With moving about dont want to chuck all my eggs in one basket. But shane the baliff he piles bait in mainly seed mixes but he is there for about 3 days at a time. If i was there all day in warmer time of year and stayed in one swim i would use about 3-4kilo of boilies but bait up every few hours through the day. I will have a go of the top this year if i get chance.
  5. nearly all of it mate odd muscle patches but the silt is pretty much everywhere. The silt is a good few inches but longs it doesnt smell bad which it doesnt really they feed in it. The fishery owner ant has been using siltex to help and it seems to be working gradually with it being a really old estate lake it will be silty.
  6. i dont know what best baits and tactics for that time of year as not fished it around that time. But at present i use odyssey xxx but i think most quality baits would work as that is what i have been told. Rig wise bottom baits i use light leads and solid bags with crushed boilies and mini pellets. But dont discount chods or zig rigs(though not used these rigs on there yet). What i will say is with there being alot of fish for 12 acres(roughly) dont sit for hours behind your rods make it happen move swap tactics i have moved after an hour before be light and mobile. In summer and i think spring you should catch quite regular or at least see signs i was getting bites and fish every trip up until the day of the big freeze. Just dont over complicate rig wise. May see yeah around i have blue focus st so stop and say hi
  7. I have fished it a few times just a few hours on my way to work but only every 3 weeks due to shift pattern when i can. It is very silty and very shallow in some areas it does got to 5-6 feet in places too roughly 500 carp in bottom lake 250 in toplake. i would say i have done 8 trips to 15 fish roughly done 3 trips in winter around the ice and blanked but othher trips always caught. Me and a mate went for 4 hours one morning he had a 22lb and a 13lb i had a 13lb 16lb and 18lb and lost one so it can be good. Nicely run and friendly ballifs too biggest fish out this year is 27lb which my mate had average size around 14lb. A good tip solid pva bag when temperature is up as close to island or the channel between island and bank should catch. tight lines
  8. Looking at fishing here tomorrow i know it is short timing but does anyone have any info. *Which lake upper or lower *Fish size just general stuff really i know it is silty apart from that only what website says.
  9. Totally agree moved over to notts seven years ago and still travel to peterbourgh way to syndicate or good old denton res. Dont know if you have tried here cobelyn but has good head of fish upto to 40lb. it has done a 39lb and i have ahad a known resident called parrot at 29lb 5oz. £24 for a years ticket but days only no night fishing worth a look
  10. If really concerned and want to use soft braid look at a two bait stringer. Look at feathering your cast just before impact not totally convinced though and agree with salokicnnodrog on this one baits dont sink quicker than leads. so this wil leave bait near lead all the time imo. But if only looking at single bait try a stiff material probably a coated material and strip back near the hook. Or use stiff rig material like stiff bristle filament or esp ghost.
  11. I would also agree with long supple hooklenghts i use around 10-12inch. I also soak all my baits loose and ones on my rigs. This way it helps get alot more smell around. Dont be too afraid of being in the silt and thinking fish wont feed in it. Carp love mooching and feeding around the silt and even bury there faces in it when feeding
  12. there is alot of waters mate there is a1pits and smeatons at newark richmonds at lincoln denton res u need a grantham book which costs 22 pound a year and holds fish to 40lb woodland waters near ancaster there is quite a few around and i suppose it depends on how far you want to travel to
  13. Surely a safezone leader from korda would be a suitable replacement. I am not 100% sure so dont slate me lol. Providing you make sure the beads are big enough so they pass over the weighted bits. I also agree with salokcinnodrog with the fashion alot of people follow it.
  14. i am just wondering if anybody could tell me if they have used anchor rig tubing for the chod rig. i know there is a big debate on leadcore so i want to move away from using it and please i am not here to cook up another debate on leadcore either. If anybody has used anchor rig tubing did you occur any problems if so what alternatives is there.
  15. Denton is not to far about 40mins holds some big fish. I plan to fish here this year as well as a syndicate in peterbourgh are. best of all ticket is £22 all year sadly no night fishing allowed
