  1. Hi Dave Bivvy City is the area near Mesnil St Pere... I preferred to fish at Michelin point or Geraudot. Both are legal night areas... you need to be prepared.. but its top fishing Cheers Gareth
  2. hi Dave Fished there a few times here is an article I wrote a while back: http://ezinearticles.com/?Carp-Fishing-Sessions---Extreme-Orient&id=1082624 cheers Gareth
  3. Hi Simmo I live in France so do a fair amount of travelling.. you're looking at 6-7 hours depending on your speed. Paris is your black spot, and where you'll likely get held up. Try going round Paris either very early ie. before 7am of around lunch time. Tolls according the Mappy website would be around 45€ if you don't have a trailer. cheers Gareth
  4. Yes here I must agree, while after 25 years in France I now find UK food ..well different now, I have never got a taste for such things as you mention.... then again I've never eaten baked beans either..but I hear some people think they are delicious cheers Gareth
  5. I must admit I agree with Discocarper...Prices have been pretty stable in France and going by the govt figures, inflation is low or even going down... see fuel prices compared to last year for example. However if you seek out expensive imported food it stands to reason it will be more expensive.... the French don't eat baked beans so shops chosing to sell them will need to import from the UK... transport is a huge cost so can easily double the price to the public. Try buying a half way decent bottle of Appellation Controlé Bordeaux in the UK, or a piece of brie... and you'll see what I mean. You can get French sausages that are IMO far nicer as they actually have meat in and not 90% rusk...try the "sausisses aux herbes"....yummy Everyone goes on about a full English when away!!! but how often do most people eat that? I lived 20 years in the UK and I doubt I had more than a couple a year. Yet toast, cereals and tea or coffee is cheap...and easy to knock up on the bank. Things are getting more European so I'm sure most of the items available in France can be found in Tesco's or Sainsburys if you look... so recognising food stuffs is less of a problem...but fruit and veg is more seasonal here, price wise... tomatoes go for under a Euro a kilo in seasoin and 3 Euros now...for Spanish green house ones... What I do when out fishing is go to the local restaurant at lunch time. Last year I had an excellent three course meal with wine for 10 Euros. Most rural cafés do this type of menu at midday. Get a couple of baguettes and some paté for the evening and voilà you can eat well for far less than 200 quid and not have to wash up... Cheers Gareth
  6. Hi there He has stocked around a further 47 carp over this winter, and now has five 50's in the lake... Included in the stocking were 8 more 40's to 48lb... So I reckon the catches will be superb this year.. Cheers Gareth
  7. Hi there Mas Bas has to be one of my favourite places in France. I took my family there when I shot the video last summer, you can see them in the clip eating outside and in the pool. It is the south of France and beautiful. Fishing wise... well we didn't really fish, my son did and had a couple, and the lads on the main lake when they weren't in the pool had fish to thirties... Ian Sweenie and his Tackle Tarts did very well n June with some cracking fish, including 3 forties. Not a runs water but it has some nice fish. Fishing tight to the lilies works.. but don't leave your rods or you'll lose fish. Good bait and stout tackle would be my advice.. you may find a bait boat helps too. My lad had takes every time he cast out.. Ask Gilles to suggest the best areas.. You'll see info where people have caught in the Comments book. The surrounding area is superb, I think you can see that from my pictures. And Gilles & Lesley are brilliant people... you may think I'm being OTT on this, but I'm probably going back this summer for a holiday too... I'm sure you'll have a great time... if you need any specific info PM me. cheers Gareth PS: Don't forget the local markets at Beauville and Laroque
  8. Hi Ivan Really nice place, Dave and Sammy are a lovely couple who make you feel really welcome. And they have stocked some cracking carp into this venue. I spent some time there last year shooting the videos.. it was a real pleasure... the guys caught well and oh! the food is really good. I think you'll enjoy it. Regards Gareth
  9. Hi I've just posted the video of Shaun Harrsion fishing Laroussi: http://www.anglinglines.com/docs/videozone/laroussi2/index.html Cheers Gareth
  10. Hi Ian I've just uploaded a couple of video clips of Shaun Harrison at Laroussi.. they'll be live on our site or on our bait site. these might be of help... or you can e-mail Shaun direct on shaun@questbaits.com cheers gareth
  11. Hi there You don't draw for pegs but for who gets first choice of peg.... naturally if there are any free pegs and you are not happy with your initial choice, ask Mehdi and you can move. If you have the lake exclusive and every one is happy to sort it out themselves there is no draw... It's all to make things as fair as possible. Tight Lines Gareth
  12. Hi there, Excellent well run water... Mehdi is a diamond, and a very helpful guy. Listen to his advice and you should do ok. Some fabulous catches been had this last season with a number of 60lb + fish. You need to find your spots so time spent with a marker rod sill pay you back... I was there recently with Shaun Harrison and he found a nice area after a hour or so markering the area and it produced a big 30 for him.... If you can cast a long way 140 yards plus the single hooker in areas the fish don't normally see a bait can pay dividends too. Shaun landed a lovely 45lb mirror using this tactic during our stay. I have shot a short video clip of this which will be on our website when I've edited it... tight lines Gareth
