    snakeskin

Prefer 'Super Mantis' a lot finer for the BS
  2. Once tried the Withy Pool rig on a popup... had a few runs and all fish were never hooked... now generally stick to simple rigs, line aligners the most complicated I sometimes use is a 360 swivel rig for popups
  3. good line, I find it a little stretchy, but great abrasion resistance and strength
  4. My mate used it last winter, said it was cr@p, kept on snapping on casts/fish etc...

    spod

Buy a fox stubby spod. these can be cast with any 2lb+ TC carp rod no problem... another way is to you make a small spod about the same size yourself out of plastic tube, polystyrene/foam, glue, amnesia and a swivel... that way its free spodding.

    spod

Berkley make it, it costs around £30 for 300 yds but you can get it for under £20 if u shop around. I don't think it floats.

    spod

Maybe its something to do with packing up and cutting the set up off, wasting the mono is a lot cheaper than wasting the braid???

    spod

    Why have the shockleader?

    spod

I picked up a second hand Wychwood Rage or Rogue 4lb tc spod rod (can't remember which) and Maximiser Big Pit filled with 20lb Wychwood Spod braid and 2 spods all for £45. Oh, and a finger stall. This makes a great spodding outfit and will cast any spod easily as far as I can cast even a single hookbait rig.

    korda iq

I prefer IQ to any other flurocarbon i've used, but don't very often use them now, I prefer braids & coated braids, unless I want a VERY short and stiff hooklink. I have never had a problem with it kinking, cause if it does, a bit of steam/heat soon straightens it.
  11. dunno myself but seem to catch much more fish on the wide gapes. Have tried Longshanks and never had much luck on them and don't feel confident about them. The only reason I can see to use longshanks is to tie more complicated rigs that require more space on the hook to do so (blowback rigs etc...).

    Korda Wide Gape B's in 6's, 8's and 10's
  13. yep I use widegapes for all my fishing
  14. Is it me or isn't this rig just a line aligner with a plastic maggot replacing the shrink tube. I don't think this rig is any kind of innovation. Just people clutching at straws to get their name in carp fishing history. I mean It's not exactly the next hair is it?

    zig rig

    How do you store them?
  16. Or pva presentation foam!

    Stuck....

1 Fox now do elevator leads that rise quickly & skim on the surface on the retrieve. if u want to wrap method mix round them i'm sure it'll stick 2 The cork balls are for many applications i.e: gluing maggots to to make a medusa ball, cut bits off it to use with zig rigs (the carp seem to think they are snails or something rising to the surface), making popups out of ordinary bottom bait mix, and whatever else u can think of
  18. when i'm filling my spools i put the spool in a bath of water, that eliminates most line twist
  19. the trouble with raptors is how long the point lasts but they are sharp
  20. me too by a long way, i like the matt coating most other hooks are too shiney. have never had any probs at all with them

    korda hybrid

    with ya nails
  22. For combis i use hybrid 15lb but have had a few breakages hybrid is a bit stiff for some waters so i use Mantis if i want it to be a bit more supple. Braid I use Merlin usually in 25lb cause i only use braid in weedy or silty waters and the ones i fish are snaggy, flurocarbon has to be 15lb IQ unless i want it stiff then i up the BS to 20/25lb
  23. Been using some 'berkley trilene carp' line for a while now had no probs very low diam for bs as well (0.31 for 15.5lb) casts well too, doesn't kink too badly, costs £14.99. Although the only place i have ever seen it is in WMAC in Darlaston
