  1. Sounds like Roys Parsons talking to us about St. Johns a couple of years back before we went fishing there for a week, only it wasn't packed.
  2. I used to use this when I first started fishing for specimens. nightmare stuff to tie a rig with for a beginner. Looks great in the water tho'.
  3. whats that? never heard of it.
  4. I've still got a spool of the dodgy 15lb stuff, do you recon they will exchange it now?
  5. Is it a new spool of it? if so I would think that Korda have sorted the problem, but if you are using a spool that could be fairly old, I wouldn't use it if I were you. It was obviously a big problem, as so many had the problem http://www.carp.com/forum/showthread.php?threadid=15933&highlight=korda+hybrid
  6. Lots of people having it snap on fish, as I did a couple of times.
  7. Never had a problem with Korda Widegape B's.
  8. I used to use it, before the problems with the 15lb stuff. I stripped it with my nails, takes a few atempts but it comes off eventually.
  9. Test it in the margins. Depends on the weight of both.
  10. 'Wychwood Deception Silt' is great for silty venues, and quite reasonably priced, compared to Kryston etc..., although at my venue the silt is so deep I have to use Helicopter Rigs with short stiff flurocarbon hookling most of the time.

    Hiar stops

Make the loop bigger (if need be) and pull the needle further through the bait. If you are using the standard cone (sort of) shaped stops, make sure the thinner end of the cones goes through the loop first. Other than that I'm afraid its just a matter of fiddling about until it goes in.
  12. Kryston Supernova for braid Korda IQ 15&20lb flurocarbon depends how stiff you want the coating on your coated braid if you want stiff use either Hybrid 20lb or Armaled kik-bak, soft use something like Wychwood deception or gardner stealth skin, Super Mantis is good too these are the ones I prefer anyway.
  13. have a look at this: http://www.carp-passion.com/Rigs/Backleading.htm

    Rig Tubing

Had a look at some of the esp tubing my mate was using on the bottom of one of the lakes we fish, and we were horrified at how much it stood out. Bright green, only cammo'd in very bright green weed.
  15. I used to strip it with my nails when I used to use it, no problems.

    Rig Tubing

Korda by far the best IMO, colours are nicely cammo'd and the bore is just the right diameter, find out which colour would suit the lake you'll be fishing before you go.
  17. If you like the Widegapes so much then why not just use the 'b' barbless version?

    Advice

Depends what the lakebed is like in your particular lake... if it's deep silt, then use a helicopter set-up, otherwise get yourself some lead safety clips or some inline leads and tail rubbers.
  19. Oh, sorry mate I thought you were talking about mainline not hooklinks. If you don't like flurocarbons like Korda IQ (I would use this as a preference, I think they do a more supple version of it now) then I would use something like Gardner Suffix Stealth Skin or Cammo Skin or Super Mantis Gold.
  20. Longer hooklinks may enable the small fish to get away with it without hooking themselves... doesn't neccessarily single out bigger fish tho'. Sorry not used braid before, but Danny Fairbrass was a strong advocate of braid until he fished a lake like the one you're describing and he then moved over to Xline as its far more invisible and has a bit less stretch than most other monos, not many people on here rate the Xline tho'. I would try Krystonite if I was in that situation.
  21. A carp rod lol
  22. Use your bait needle to pull it through any loops to form your knots a gated needle is best for this. I wouldn't use rig putty on it without putting a shot on it first or glue it on with super/rig glue.

    Knots

Tie an overhand loop in the amnesia but don't tighten it, pass the braid through the loop you've just created now tighten the loop in the amnesia as tight as possible. Loop the braid back on its self and then pass the braid round both lines 4-5 times inside the loop in the braid wet and tighten together by pulling both ends of the braid and the end long end of the amnesia. The braid bit is simular to tying a grinner only its butted up against the overhand knot in the amnesia. Sorry I've got no pic as I couldn't find one of this particular knot that I use.
  24. Never had a problem with Korda Widegape B's for bottom baits or popups

    coated hooks

Didn't see the article, but the hooks look ok on my local lakebed, much less shiney lookin than any uncoated i've seen. The mags seem to just fire these comments all the time without any actual evidence. Probably cause they need to write something different for fear of repeating themselves. NOT THAT THEY DO THAT AT ALL!!!
