  1. Will do be interesting to see what hook holds it brings ... will be keeping log of fish lost , fish banked aborted runs etc etc my pb is 27 fish in a row before i lost one that of course wasn't all in one session i wished lol.
  2. Ahhh i never thort of that i only have pre drilled ones will add them to shopping list thanx dave
  3. Also the beads im using are a little loose need smaller not sure what size im using 4mm i think ... any suggestions for a tighter fitting bead to fit snugley on iq2 ... the top bead cannot slide down the hooklink as if affects the popups ability to slide up the hooklink.
  4. So my main issue is not really a big deal as stated the rig will nearly always get taken from above so as it sits its pretty much ready to be tested think i might give it a go just to see what happens. I have ordered some rig ring swivels that have size 11 rings on both ends of the swivel ... im gonna use a nash chod bead on the main line so by having the rig rings on both ends on the lower one that slides onto the chod bead im gonna mold putty around it the chod bead will still allow the rig to move up and down the line ... with the top also having a rig ring it will still give it that movement. When they turn up i will tie the whole rig up again. The thing that this rig has that fw dont is blow back just think back then blow back wasn't even a thing.
  5. Yes i just have not added a swivel as a cannot find a non quick clip one lol. One other issue i have sorted is the pop up always ending up behind to hook if you look closely the hooklink does have a slight curve to it and ive just been throwing it in the bowl from the other side of the kitchen like a right wierdo before i put the curve in the popup was landing everywhere after the curve was added the pop-up sits behind the hook everytime. The remaining issue is as stated the direction of the hook when taken side on ... my thorts are the hooklink is too stiff for the hook to go backwards for very long and when the boilie is sucked in it will ping back into place after the initial sucking in but this is just say so with no testing as such Thorts.
  6. And finally sitting upright on its own in a bowl of water.
  7. Rhis is what it looks like out of water
  8. Wow i had a frank warwick moment mines abit different but same result nice find mate thats gotta be one boyant pop up to hold that rig putty up and the hooklink ... my idea is that the putty sits on the lakebed so takes the strain out the pop-up But i think mine is still a fail as cloud 9 suggested the weight of the popup would mean that would be sucked in first and leave the hook entering backwards ... i believe my rig taken from above would work but not from the side.
  9. So i have tied it up (a few times) the issue with the hooklink not bein stiff enuff is now solved i used some korda iq2 in 20lb wich is stiff enuff to make the rig sit upright in cojunction with the popup holding the rig up aswell. I then had an issue with the hook not sitting right flopping to one side a small piece of shrink tube sorted this out the rig now sits right. The only problem i have is it just looks blooming wrong haha.
  10. I will tie it up and post it mate no problem
  11. Yea i like it bolt rig float lol its pretty much that ill put a pic up when i dig it out for a laff
  12. I do have a self hooking float when float fishing using smaller hooks for fish feeding off the bottom probley already been done. Its just a round disk that ive glued on a float shot it down untill the disk just sits off the surface when you get a bite the disk slaps the water and the fish gets hooked its really quite simple.
  13. I would call this rig in mythbusters fashion BUSTED haha.
  14. Yes i see what you mean a long shank is a heavy hook when you come to think of it now ... basically the pop-up on a choddy is making it sit right and here it dont have that ancore holding up hmmm.
  15. Thats exzacly why i posted it just to hear peoples thorts and how they would change it or rectify a problem and some good pointers already.
  16. Ive not tested or even tied this rig up just a random one that took 5 mins of thort and 2 mins to destroy its working lol
  17. You could test this in the margin you can always add or take away cork to get it to sit right.
  18. Stiff fluro 25lb steamed straight tied knotless knot will keep it straight with ease.
  19. I think the key to canals is pre baiting if going for it full time the fish can be very hard to find creating spots that the fish visit because of the bait going in can be a very sucessful way of landing a few ... you dont need to feed loads and simple and cheap baits work ... a few cans of corn on each spot and handful of boilies over the top every 3 days is how i use to do it and ive had my fair share from canals.
  20. For Most of my fishing over dead leaf or really silty bottoms i use a stiff hinged rig and around a 10 inch hooklink on a heli setup Imo the best setup around for this type of fishing. Thoe depending on how soft the clay is when fishing over clay i may switch to an inline system if the clay is pretty hard if its soft i will use a heli but with a lighter lead.
  21. Btw my drawing does it no justice it looks like a size 2 hook and a 10mm lol
  22. Created this its abit barmy and goes against the grain on rig concealment but my idea is that with todays camo hooks and watching alot of carp feeding footage are the carp really that concerned by the hooks half the time they seem more focused on the bait. I've seen alot of small particals bein used above the hook on a hair and the hook stands out the bait is not concealing the hook at all yet people still catch fish. This rig goes one step further the hook is above the bait this for me does a few things. A. With the bait being below the hook the carp will without a doubt get the hook in its mouth i have seen alot of footage of carp mouthing the bait and dropping the rig again just picking up the boilie not even touching the hook. B. The hook is the first thing to enter and does not have any bait getting in the way when being ejected also i have incorperated a blow back section making it even harder to eject. Also i have used a curved long shank to give it the agressive angle as you want the stiff fluro section to be dead straight so the blow back works also i used that patten to give a gap between the hook and the bait as you dont wanna be sinking your hook into it on the cast. Is it barmy , do i need help and yes i was twiddling my thumbs as im not on the bank and pretty much been tieing up some rigs for my next outing and was bored.
