I like to go as light as possible, but I think its down to where you're fishing..if I'm fishing a big open reservoir I'd take a brolly, but if I'm fishing a smaller lake I won't take one unless there's rain forecasted for that day
I try and leave my brolly at home or in the car as often as I can get away with now. I quite like the idea of one of those ultra portable pop-up type bivvy like the Fox easy shelter but for over a tonne I can't justify it. Seems steep for what you're actually getting. Anyone own one or similar?

Er, obviously summer no showers no shelter. Autumn/spring no shelter if no showers,Winter definate shelter to keep cold wind off. Just common sense and the hope you've checked forecast before leaving the house
