Hair lengths

I am tying a combi rig and wondered if .... say...a 3 inch hair would be too long for popping up fake corn?

 

I am using a no. 6 shot KD style, so I made the hair longer just so its a bit further a way from the hook and pops up a bit more.

 

I don't know why but 3 inches for a hair seems too long. I dont feel confident with it.

 

Any comments?

if you dont feel confident with it then dont use it. use what you have caught on in the past.

Can't imagine when I'd ever use a 3" hair, especially with a popped up bait.
