carper_matt Posted September 12, 2006 Report Posted September 12, 2006 Anybody got a good rig to use for Mugga hooks to make the most out of their shape or would you just use your normal rig? Cheers, Matt Quote
courtz Posted September 12, 2006 Report Posted September 12, 2006 i just use a couated braid and dont usually use shrink tubing as the shape helps the hook turn anyway Quote
salokcinnodrog Posted September 13, 2006 Report Posted September 13, 2006 It doesn't matter what type of hook you use to tie your rigs! What matters is that you have confidence in what pattern you do use Look at the Basic Rigs and Knotless Knot Sticky at the Top of the Rig Tying Forum. There are instructions and pics which are the starting point for nearly all other rigs Quote
carper_matt Posted September 13, 2006 Author Report Posted September 13, 2006 Im totally confident in the hooks im normally using i just liked the look of muggas and was going to have a play around with a rig on the 2nd rod to see if i could maximise my catch rate as ive heard the mugga has a good hookhold. Is it because of the shape of them they can penetrate deeper? Quote
salokcinnodrog Posted September 14, 2006 Report Posted September 14, 2006 The Shape may have some Bearing, but I'm not 100% Sure. They are exactly the same shape as the Carp-R-Us Nailers. In fact in many cases, the SAME HOOKS are sold by Different Manufacturers under different Names! Quote
megamomac Posted September 20, 2006 Report Posted September 20, 2006 that happens with ore than just hooks being re branded. Quote
salokcinnodrog Posted September 21, 2006 Report Posted September 21, 2006 that happens with ore than just hooks being re branded. Very True. I can think of 3 Bait companies who were selling products that were all coming from the same Factory and were actually Identical! Rods, Bivvies, and other Items as well Quote
hopefull Posted September 21, 2006 Report Posted September 21, 2006 i use mugga's with confidence now. have a look at the 'claw rig' n adapt it to suit buddy Quote
robaldinho Posted September 28, 2006 Report Posted September 28, 2006 use 2 small pieces of rig tubing to create a double blowback rig Quote
neilscatchin Posted September 29, 2006 Report Posted September 29, 2006 Anybody got a good rig to use for Mugga hooks to make the most out of their shape or would you just use your normal rig? Cheers, Matt Had good results on the 360 rig using Muggas as opposed to longshank hooks but just as adapt for basic knotless knot rigs too. Quote
Guest Anonymous Posted December 17, 2006 Report Posted December 17, 2006 I only use Mugga hooks when using pop ups, it creates an excellent anti-eject rig especially if you use it in conjunction with a 3-4" length of tubing moulded with boiling water into a claw rig Quote
