slatts Posted January 5, 2010 Report Posted January 5, 2010 hi all im new to the site so its a newbie post, hope it goes in the right place!! ive decided to fish a new lake and have been told about poppy hills near henlow. its owned by letchworth angling club. does anybody know anything about it apart from what the web site says. any reviews, tips or bad points.want to join a club with the chance of a 30, pb is 21lb 8oz and has been for years. i dont mind travelling but with a new baby doing long sessions is out the question for this year so a lake or lakes with some big uns and not to hard that it needs more than 2 days to be in with a chance of a fish thank you slatts Quote
danm1 Posted January 5, 2010 Report Posted January 5, 2010 Alright fella! Pretty sure Poppy Hills is really a mixed fishery - it's only very small, but has tonnes of swims packed in there - not really a carp venue. The lagoons are possibly the better option, although not really been able to pin much down as to what's in there. The Grand Union could actually be a good bet to try to beat your pb! Quote
carpfisherlee Posted January 5, 2010 Report Posted January 5, 2010 There is 30's in the blue but only a couple , not a very big stock of carp tbh . Good few 20's in the green not sure about 30's . there are 30's in poppy hill not many though they seem to end up in whitemans at the back , of the top of the bed the biggest ever out of 36 i no the fella who had it will ask him exact size. edited to add as i said in a previous post join luton ac fish beckerings or north house put the effort in and you will beat your pb imho . slatts Posted January 5, 2010 Author Report Posted January 5, 2010 thanks lads a 30 is something im after but as my pb is 21lb 8oz anything over that is great. ive heard lake 1 is small but loads of swims but i was thinking about lake 2 or 3,thats where the bigger carp are so ive been told. i only started fishing again last august due to my younger brother in laws taking it up and they needed some help, got me right back into it. my local lake is a runs water, great for them to learn but i want something new, they will come with me so a lake with a good head of carp, any size with some high 20's and the odd 30 for me would be great, doesnt have to be poppy hills, any ideas around hertfordshire or beds is ok. thanks in advance Quote
