nafy118
im off to france in just over a month and starting to think about possible tactics but only trouble is, im not sure what to look for in such a big expanse of water, the lake is 20 achres and im not sure if there will be a draw for the swims or if me and my party will get close ones as there are only 3 of us fishing then another group of 9 joining us from somewhere else. so what sort of features should i look for in such a big expanse? Guest fenboy
20 acres is not such a big piece of water and certainly not with 12 anglers on . As for features unless its a watercraft draw then it will not matter as you will just get the peg you draw if it has good features or not . As with any lake the best feature are the fish ! if they are showing get as close to them as you can ,after that just the same as home bars, weed beds , snags ,gullies etc, etc also bear in mind that set swims on any lake mean bait going into those areas on a regular basis so there should be fish visiting swims regardless of features
nafy118
so maybe fishing the areas that are less likely to be fished? what sort of baiting aproach should i start with? the website says small boilie only baiting has been catching so would pva bags work or should i find a couple of spots within the swim and use a throwing stick to spread my bait around the whole swim? not massively but enough baits to keep them interested and moving around in my swim? Guest fenboy
I would first ask the owner/bailif if the swim was fished the previous week ,if it had been fished I personally would start just fishing smallish bags and scattering probably 40ish boilies round each rod ,then just play it by ear if there seems to be a lot of action then it may be worth putting out a decent bed of bait then fishing one rod on that one just off it and a third I would just keep casting around with a bag ,each time you have a fish top up with more boilies .
