i just wondered how many forum members used crimps on their rigs and why ??

these are something i have only used for pikeing ..

are these of any use on a carp rig ??

if so what ??

i have used them to make short stiff links as i find them easier to use than trying to tie loops in a 2in hooklink.

i have heard of people using them with stiff rig, i wouldn't try it though, as i wouldn't want to risk damaging the line.

tight lines

courtz

a well crimped rig using the right material is stronger than knots.

dont use Fluro to brittle, dont use braid or coated it will slip use a proper stiff rig material such as wychwood crimp link etc.

As Jemsue says it's far easier for short stiff rigs than trying to tie knots on 3 inch Stiff Bristle with fat fingers. If not crimped correctly they have a tendancy to slip but with every other rig I'd stick with knots IMO.

I must admit I have never used crimped rigs for Carp Fishing, yet do for Pike fishing and Sea fishing. In my case it comes down to confidence and my preferring Braids for Carp Fishing.

I could comfortably tie Mono/Amnesia rigs down to about 5centimetres until last year on my occasional need to use them. A few broken fingers later after an accident and I may see a need to change:rolleyes: , or more likely to keep on using Braid;) :P
