pineaplepopup
i have a catalog for whychwwod and it says that the crimps are only for use with there own braids because they wont hold out on any other braid or stiff link.

stevejb
hi chris, i want to tie booms & rigs with the crimps but even with there 20lb & 30lb stiff links they slip. i take it you just pop it in the small hole & sqeeze:confused:
Guest Anonymous
steve, yes when i use the crimps i just use the small hole in the front of the pliers, i always crimp them in 2 positions. perhaps you should try wychwoods hooklinks. it will not work with iq as the system is not designed to work with florucarbons. stevejb
tried it with the two holes in the crimp along the line from top of pliers to bottom and it makes the crimp wide & flat but grips the line. crimping it at 90 degrees to this line rolls it, it looks a lot tidier but dont hold ? Guest Anonymous
steve ive justed tested the crimps on some wychwood 30lb crimplink with the 2 holes vertical in the pliers and a steady squeeze on the pliers it makes a very neat joint and doesnt flatten the crimp as you describe. ive tested the join to destruction and it holds with no problem at all with mega pressure applied to try and make it give. i think youve got a case where products dont match, the flouro is a big no no its to brittle to be crimped. i suggest getting the wychwood crimp link its only 4 quid and works perectly mate. chrispayne
Has anyone felt the edges of the crimps, very sharpe, it you do end up using the crimp cover them in silicone tub. Â When crimping i have only use ESP ghost, i give the crimp three crushes, are you crushing.crimping them hard enough? i then blob the tag end with a lighter and using a tooth pick i put a small amount of glue into the crimp. Then cover with silicone. Â stevejb, would you like me to make you some boom sections up??? I could tie you a few and pop them in the post?
