carpbelly Posted February 19, 2008 Report Posted February 19, 2008 hav'nt been yet but going in june with 6 buddies, read a lot about it, some good some not so good. There has been a few people that blanked, but then it is the risk you take on a water like this with the chance of catching a fish of a lifetime!! What i would say is that even the people that blanked have said that facilities and staff there are top notch Quote

carpbelly Posted March 12, 2008 Report Posted March 12, 2008 Have you booked with ANGLINGLINES?? If you go on to their web site and click on croix blanche it shows the lake and you can watch a bit of a video, it says on there baiting up little and often via baitboat!! I dont know what the best thing to do is, i suppose that is the beauty of these sites, you can talk to people who been there. Quote
greg676 Posted March 12, 2008 Author Report Posted March 12, 2008 it depend realy ive spoke to a lad who works there and he sed pile it in and loads of outher people have sed the same and a few sed the same as what it says on the dvd if ya look on angling lines website they have peoples feedback who fished it last year and they say pile it in and it allso tells you what they cort when they were there aswell Quote
carpbelly Posted March 12, 2008 Report Posted March 12, 2008 Well thats it then greg....pile it in we will!! Just got to find out what to pile in, with my luck i'll pile in food they least like and they will [censored] off to the other side of the lake!!! THANKS FOR THE INFO!! Quote
greg676 Posted March 12, 2008 Author Report Posted March 12, 2008 mainline maple 8 boilies and maple 8 pellets have been the most sucsesfull ive been told and orgy blend aswell they sell all that there thats what im going to use there Quote
storeyo Posted March 14, 2008 Report Posted March 14, 2008 Hey I have fished tortue twice and been fortunate to get the hippo twice at 67 and 72 and in my oppinion you have to be carefull with the amount of bait you use unless you have the vast majority of fish in front of you AND FEEDING because they do shoal up and drift about a bit when not in feeding mode. feeding times and tactics very much depend on the swim you are in at the time as the water is quite swimmy and what is working in one area may not work for you which aint very helpfull but true. most productive swims seem to be 10, 11, 12 and 13 altho i fished 14 and had 2 fish first time and 3 the second so not lots of takes but the biggy twice I have not fished croix blanche lake but have seen fish caught from pegs 2-5 but a bait boat is probably a good idea on this lake as there is a lot of weed and clear areas are often on the far bank. david. carpbelly Posted March 18, 2008 Report Posted March 18, 2008 David, cheers for the info, what you have just said is what i heard when i first booked the lake, but then everyone else seems to have different ideas so now i'm just mr. confused.com!! Anyway i cannot wait to pit my wits against mr. Carp in june. The Hippo twice!! well done dude, hope someone from our party can catch him as well. martin Quote
dondoncarp Posted March 19, 2008 Report Posted March 19, 2008 Was due to go to rainbow again 19th april with GB Baits....thats off for some reason...not sure why(is rainbow heading for an exclusive well known firm...who knows). So ive just booked croix blanche for the same week...looking forward to it. Its the all inclusive but i`m travelling in my own car as the tackle restrictions for the coach had put me off abit....i`m lucky enough that my jobs a merchant seaman and though ive worked for loads of shipping companys for 25ish years...i now work on speedferries/dover/boulogne...which gives me freebie travel...so for me its just a bit off extra toll and fuel...plus i can head out for a meal mid trip...anyone else booked then Quote
storeyo Posted March 19, 2008 Report Posted March 19, 2008 Hi again Back onto baiting if you are in pegs 10-13 it seems that most of the fish in the lake do live and feed on the central plateau in front of these swims and you can bait for multiple captures, anglers were using boats with up to 1 kg of bait in them at a time and catching lots of fish at all times of day in this area. None of the big fish (55lbs +) i saw on my visits came from this area and most were 30-40 lbs, all the big fish were caught in very pin point areas with bags or light baiting but the feeding areas were dustbin lid sized holes in weed with 5 ft+ of water so can take a while to find. I had the big lass twice mid afternoon in blazing hot sunshine with no wind and on a full moon phase so dont be put off when all seems futile lol. The fish are awesome tho. David. Quote
