  2. Hiya mate, was layed up on a ship at rouen for 2 months in the spring, now back there for the winter,i fish for around 3hrs a day on average, and different states of the tide, ive had no carp, plenty of eels, but seen quite a few carp float pass dead, ive hooked the odd bream, and seen one dead catfish. The river in my opinion is in a disgusting sorry state, bit like the thames used to be,plenty of sewage slicks...not nice. I shall persevre for the carp just because i`m there, but it wouldn`t be my choice to go and fish the place, hope this helps

  6. The new, high speed Incat 112 metre Wave-Piercing Catamaran will be introduced on the Dover–Boulogne route from May 29. The vessel is capable of carrying 1,200 passengers and crew and up to 417 cars or a mix of cars and trucks. The company’s Dover-Boulogne service will be enhanced as the new fast ferry will increase frequency from the current twoto sixreturn sailings a day with a crossing time of one hour. All types of tourist traffic will be carried including cars, caravans, motorhomes, motorcycles, coaches and foot passengers, in addition to freight. At nearly 11,000 gross tonnes, the new craft is one of the largest vessels yet built by manufacturer Incat. It claims to offer “significantly greater seakeeping qualities” and passenger comfort than earlier generation fast ferries familiar to Dover Strait, cross channel passengers. The fast ferry will be the first freight carrying high speed vessel to operate across the Dover Straits. LD Lines also becomes the first-ever French ferry company to operate high speed ferries on the short sea routes from Dover. The vessel is the world's largest diesel-powered catamaran and it will be the first Incat 112 metre to operate in Europe. The fast ferry will operate up to four daily return sailings between Dover (Eastern Docks) and Boulogne. at 0415; 0745; 1230and 1900 and from Boulogne at 0700; 1045; 1700 and 2230. Tworeturn sailings daily to Boulogne and one to Dieppe (Monday-Friday) will continue to be operated by the conventional ferry, which introduced the earlier than planned start of the new Dover-Boulogne service in February 2009. Crossing time by conventional ferry is one hour 45 minutes. Dover–Boulogne fares start from £24 one way and short break day returns from £28 for a car and four passengers. Both vessels will initially operate into the Port of Boulogne’s existing ferry berths. Following completion of Boulogne’s new Hub Port Ro Ro Terminal from July 1, both will then transfer to inaugurate and operate into the first linkspan of the new Hub Port Terminal. The introduction of the high speed ferry to operate with the conventional ferry on the Dover-Boulogne service will now mean that the ship “Norman Spirit” will remain on LD Lines’ Portsmouth–Le Havre route. The vessel had previously been expected to operate the service to Boulogne’s new Ro Ro terminal from July 1. The introduction of LD Lines’ first-ever fast ferry is a major development for the company, further emphasising the strategy to firmly establish its business on the cross channel routes from Dover, LD Lines managing director Christophe Santoni said: “This is a very exciting, innovative step forward for LD Lines and with the introduction of this new high speed ferry, we will be dramatically revolutionising ferry transport across the channel, with a style of service never experienced before on the Dover Straits. “We will be offering a unique, combined high speed and conventional ferry sailing frequency via the Boulogne service, providing great appeal and choice, to meet the demands of tourist and freight customers and create new markets.” LD Lines’ ferry route network comprises Portsmouth–Le Havre ; Rosslare–Le Havre; Newhaven–Dieppe ; Dover–Boulogne and Dover–Dieppe.
  7. just to let anyone know who is interested...speedferries went into liquidation this afternoon makeing staff redundant. lets see how prices rise over the next 18months
  8. your right...but what about future bookings...the months go quick...what when you decide to book late next year for next summer...ive worked for P&O,Sealink, hoverspeed and townsend...seen similar price hikes before
  9. http://www.facebook.com/group.php?gid=107348775256&ref=mf the boats in boulogne..its a bit more complex than a non payment of port tax bill. The point also is fair you make..you may get another firms crossing for £80 now...what about the future, without a firm like speedferries running as a budget operator not operating anymore,it will be like the old days...the big ferry companys prices all around the same price and sky high
  10. Hi all there is a fair bit of momentum on facebook "save our speedferry-sos". I know from the loads in summer,at weekends we were packed with carpers...speedferries running across the channel made other operators slash fairs,if the company goes down the pan the inevitable price rises will kick in,speedferries was a thorn in the side of the big operators. Please take a small amount of time to log into facebook, join our cause and support a small but worthwhile business. you`ve got nothing to lose Many thanks Martin speedferries seaman http://www.facebook.com/group.php?gid=107348775256&ref=mf

  15. Hi all I work on speedferries speedone seacat over the past few days there has been disruption in france which involves the french fishing fleet blocking ports and english channel shipping lanes. Its hard to pinpoint when they do this but all ferry operators have been affected at sometime or another this week. Whoever you travel with it might be an idea to contact them on the morning/evening of you`re journey for info...im at work everyday my last being monday for 5 days...if i hear anything concrete ile post early evenings over next few days kindest regards martin

  18. Was due to go to rainbow again 19th april with GB Baits....thats off for some reason...not sure why(is rainbow heading for an exclusive well known firm...who knows). So ive just booked croix blanche for the same week...looking forward to it. Its the all inclusive but i`m travelling in my own car as the tackle restrictions for the coach had put me off abit....i`m lucky enough that my jobs a merchant seaman and though ive worked for loads of shipping companys for 25ish years...i now work on speedferries/dover/boulogne...which gives me freebie travel...so for me its just a bit off extra toll and fuel...plus i can head out for a meal mid trip...anyone else booked then
  19. Fished R M Canal for years...some lovely carp in there, including the pig....try giggers green for pike.....the town center near the rowing boats is good for carp in summer...also a good spot is opposite the fireing range behind the prince of wales pub.....CDAA have got grove ferry and plucks gutter on the kentish stour....also mid kent fisheries have a stretch of the stour and also part of RM canal at appledore....for the hythe part you want cinque ports angling...but can be fished on a day ticket on the bank
  20. Try Vallee lake...about an hour from Boulogne if you cross with speedferries
  21. Your reels are just fine...they`ll cast as far as most big pits if your technique is ok.......the only thing is it takes longer to reel in......but thats no problem as it hasn`t gotta be done very often
  22. used to belong to cinque ports.....also nickolls....fished canterbury angling waters last year...moved onto mid kent fisheries this year

  25. I live near dover and have gone across many a time......there is loads of lakes and rivers between calais and the belgium border as well as rivers and canals. I know some of them are just for other water sports....i think the only way you might find out is to contact the chamber of commerce or tourist board of the normandie region. i work on the ferries so ile try to get pascal a friend of mine who works in the docks to see if he can get any info...if i find out ile let you know
