Darrensimpkin Posted September 20, 2014 Report Posted September 20, 2014 Evening all, Me again with my questions! Does anyone have any knowledge on these two rivers? I don't want to know baits and spots, more about where long the river is and isn't fishable and also where you can gain access to the water (park the car and walk down to the water) The crouch me and some mates use to fish when I was a kid as I lived in wickford but it was never serious and never caught any thing over about 6oz! If anyone has some knowledge it would be appreciated. Thanks all! Quote
newmarket Posted September 20, 2014 Report Posted September 20, 2014 (edited) Hello Daz i know nothing about the Crouch mate but i had some small chub and roach out of the Mardyke ( sth ock ) when i was a kid which was a long time ago . There is a small river/stream which is about 3 mins walk from me . I cannot for the life of me find out what its called , and google earth is no help , but i think it may well be a stretch of the Markdyke . It looks extremely fishy indeed and the plan is to prebait it during the winter if i have the time of course . Just in case your interested there are some pics on the " proper fishing " thread in the Coarse fishing section . Edited September 20, 2014 by newmarket Quote
Darrensimpkin Posted September 20, 2014 Author Report Posted September 20, 2014 The mardyke interests me a lot, I have heard of mid twenties coming out from some stretches... Tomorrow I'm going to explore the crouch, find some fishes spots and maybe get some pre baiting for some winter fishing... Maybe the mardyke I will do next Saturday and have a good look around! I love fishing abandoned little rivers. Quote
Ben m Posted February 13, 2019 Report Posted February 13, 2019 Probably a late reply but the mardyke is a awesome little untamed river. If you put the time and effort in to walk up and down and trickle a bit of bait in the rewards are well worth it ; ) small tip tho ( use bigger baits to keep away from the bream and roach they can be annoying.
