stugordon123 Posted April 24, 2012 Report Posted April 24, 2012 Hi all, does anyone fish T C pit on Oxford bypass?? As thinking of giving it a go sometime soon, wonderin wat best wat of tackling it would be?? I no its got some stunners as saw some decent carp last year wen last fishes there, also heard rummers. Thinking of using partical & bollies maybe tiggers on hair, any pointers woyld be great Ive heard its far from easy but well worth the effort. Quote
jules007 Posted April 24, 2012 Report Posted April 24, 2012 Is that the lake by the peartree flyover, on the left as you head north? Quote
stugordon123 Posted April 24, 2012 Author Report Posted April 24, 2012 Yes mate that's the one. Do u no anything of interest about tge place?? Or have u or anyone u no fished there? I no the carp r well worth a go at, I understand there far from easy so gunnq b real challenge so any help is welcome. Ive never fished in so much weed, where the carp have got masses of natural food, & dont see large amounts of bait, witch is why im goin witg particals, increaseing amount od bollives as I go. I may even try worms & maggots, just not sure about the snottie bream, as plenty of em. Any help or tips welcome. Quote
jules007 Posted April 24, 2012 Report Posted April 24, 2012 I seem to think there is no fishing on this lake, but times might have changed Quote
stugordon123 Posted April 24, 2012 Author Report Posted April 24, 2012 Yea officialy its no fishing, but no one pays attention to it, & no one enforces it, it would b better if someone took it on as anything goes at mo, no rules may sound nice but not so in practice, litter & rubbish everywhere, people cutting trees up making bonfires, its bang out of odder, bivvy tramps with no respect, on the flip side there's a real chance of some BIG English carp, ive heard frok reliable sorce, & seen myself wat some of its stock is, not many in there but low stock not much angling pressure means real challange with real rewards me finks :-) Quote
moorsey Posted April 25, 2012 Report Posted April 25, 2012 Yes I've fished it back in the nineties and it is challenging. Watch where you park your car and think outside the box if you want to succeed. Quote
mikergj Posted April 30, 2012 Report Posted April 30, 2012 I have been going there a lot recently, I am always walking round the place, just to get a feel for it. Has been rumours of undesirables getting round the lake at night, although I have not come across any as yet. I did a couple of over nighters last year, a few day sessions and a three day session. I also got dropped of and picked up so don't have to worry about vehicle. Quote
stugordon123 Posted April 30, 2012 Author Report Posted April 30, 2012 Hi mikergk I to will be getting dropped off etc as dont drive, safer that way too. What tacttics & bait have u been using if u don't mind me asking mate?? & were u successful landing any carp. Im guessin if you've been walking the banks a fair bit lately u will have started noticing the water coming alive now its warming up, is the weed looking like its gunna be as thick as ever??? Any info-help would be great Quote
mikergj Posted April 30, 2012 Report Posted April 30, 2012 The weed was really bad last year on the A34 bank, and I have no doubt it will be the same this year. I have not seen any sign or movement of fish at all in my last few visits this month. Last year there was one spot where I spotted carp rolling again and again,so I will be watching that area with interest this year. I have tried al manner of baits from boilies to worms and maggotts . All I had last year was one 8lb bream on trout pellet. Are you local, the biggest problem I find is getting your kit to the swim for a over night session. Are you planning overnighters and when are you thinking of getting down there Quote
stugordon123 Posted May 10, 2012 Author Report Posted May 10, 2012 Having fished before im expecting the weed, although fishing in it isnt my strong point, far fron it. My bro has just returned from a session targeting the bream, the carp were boshin like crazy during a thunder storm so I no where they luke to b just need to get em feeding!! Has anyone found any evidence of Otters?? as during his session my bro had 2 in his swim, 1 walked rightnext to him on way into the water so they have no fear of humans, I only hope they leave the carp & live on bream & roach, preferabley from canal/drain beside the lake. How much time do u spent on the pit?? Only would b good to find someone sensible to share info/ideas with as I understand this pit is far fron easy, but im looking forward to the challenge & learning curve as can only mqke me a better angler, Quote
dave3113uk Posted January 14, 2020 Report Posted January 14, 2020 Tc is owned by the environment agency. fished it quite a lot in 2000-2005. Was famous for big bream and tench in the 80s. Also had a go in 2015. Spent hours down there over the years and looked for fish in good conditions. Only ever seen 5 Carp around the lake, and continuously the same fish. Would put 2 at over 30lb. The weed is a major problem and makes it difficult nearly all year round. Margains can be easier Quote
