inhiding Posted January 27, 2012 Report Posted January 27, 2012 My parents live for most of the year in the mid Pyrenees in France surrounded by mountains. My old man has been on a quest to be able to hear "this is London calling" coming out of some sort of radio. To this end he tried various radios, including DAB ones with no luck, this may be due to remoteness and ruddy great mountains. I expect that the radio itself would pick up something in French as I believe that DAB is an international thing but I doubt you would get any English stations due to, well being in France If you are somewhere flattish you should be able to get BBC world service on a SW/AMtravel radio Just to add there are 2 systems in place in Europe DAB and DRM ( think VHS v Betamax ) , you may want to check which covers your area as I THINK that a Dab radio will not receive drm and vica versa. Guest makka Posted January 27, 2012 Report Posted January 27, 2012 DAB will work in some European countries but not others. Have a look at this page to see how you can receive the BBC around the world on a variety of formats (Shortwave, longwave, DAB, etc) http://www.bbc.co.uk/worldservice/programmeguide/waystolisten.shtml and this one which shows you where in the world you can use DAB http://www.worlddab.org/country_information_ Quote
