Pine Pool

Recommended Posts

were you casting your line directly into the weed or into a clearing close to the weed?

I am guessing the second - maybe try fishing with the baiteunner off and the bait presented directly between you and the weed. That way the fish can pull all he likes and will not reach the weed!

just make sure your rod is well secured, or you could find that disappears. butt rests which grip the rod, front rod ring against the alarm etc - anything which stops the rod being pulled in. Also be right beside the rod to react quickly.

I struggled the first time i fished pine pool. Same problem weed. Instead of just going there to fish, i walked it a few times in the day with the sun out and got a good look at the make-up of the bottom. In most places its only a few feet deep and with polarised glasses you can see all pretty easy. I noticed fish visit certain parts of the lake during different times through out the day. Once i did my homework i went yesterday afternoon and got on the peg i wanted as there wasnt many fishing. My choice of rig was the invisible chod rig with a bright pop-up. There were lots of fish jumping and topping in front of me but were not interested in feeding. i decided to bring my rigs in close at about 7 oclock as i noticed a few passing close in. I was fishing about 8ft from the bank and after 10 minutes i had my first run. It was a 22Ib very dark lovely mirror carp. Following my recast i only had to wait 5mins before another take. While i was playing it my other rod screamed off! As i was on my own i just let it run until i netted the 1st, quickly weighed it - it was 21.6 mirror then put it back before grabbing my other rod just intime before it took my round the island. due to the amount of line it took, it then took me 15mins to get it in. This 1 was 21Ib and a bright orange coloured mirror - all 3 were cracking looking fish. Pine pool is definately worth it if your willing to put a bit of effort in. Saying that im lucky as i only live local and can pop there for a walk rd anytime. Hope the above helps.
