charlie75
Hi chaps, I've had a few problems with knots slipping when tying swivels etc with braid when I've tested my rigs before fishing. What is the best / most reliable knot you have used with braid ? Kind Regards Charlie
neilscatchin
Either Palomar or I prefer the grinner and just make sure the knot is bedded down properly. Both can be found here: http://www.go4bass.com
Malc 1950
Never had a problem with the grinner knot
courtz
Grinner is the best for braid A palomar only has a 60% strength with braid, and is best when tied with mono.
salokcinnodrog
Grinner/Uni knot for Braid and Mono. Never had a Problem with that Knot!
neilscatchin
Grinner is the best for braid A palomar only has a 60% strength with braid, and is best when tied with mono. Palomar only has a 60-70% knot strength when jerked or shocked with braid(i.e. mainline) as it has no stretch properties,if the tackle set up is correct and is not unbalanced the rod should be able to absorb the lunges to quite a degree and any breakage is down to angler error IMO as the knot should still be in the region of 95%+ effective as it'll still have the stretch of the mono mainline.Never had one slip or break on me
beerbattered
I use brerkley fireline. The only knot I have found not to slip is the improved trilene. Tie a trilene but do not sinch. Bring the tag end back through the second or "upper" loop. Make sure not to let the upper loop twist around the main before you put the tag end through. Of course, always moisten before sinching. beerbattered
The only difference between the Grinner and the Improved trilene is that the latter has the line passed through the hook eye twice.
