pezza
So you are using fluorocarbon at the moment and want to give braid a try? Why don't you try a fluorocarbon coated braid such as esp stripteaze
2ammers
didnt know you could get them mate im new to modern day carp fishing so some of my posts i might sound a bit thick cheers for that pezza
pezza
We have all got to start some where mate. Go to your tackle shop and pick up some esp strip teaze, I use 15lb in green. It takes on the colour of the lake bed mate, and blends in nice. I use a nice size 7 esp rapto D7 hook with it make. Pukka combo.
pezza
Oh yeah you need to strip a few inches of the outer coating off, use your teeth. Strip it back enough to make a hair, whip round the shank of the hook 6 or so times, and leave a little bit left so the hook can turn nicely. If that makes sense. lol
2ammers
yeah it makes perfect sense mate i can tie knotless knots and all that i use korda wide gape 6 barbless hooks.. is braided better for popups
pezza
I don't use braid for my pop ups. In fact this year I have only used 3 hook link materials. Esp stripteaze, korda IQ soft, and drennen double strength for my zigs and floater fishing.
salokcinnodrog
Braids I use are all by Kryston, I know and trust them for my Fishing and in my view the BEST Supernova, Merlin, Silkworm, SuperSilk and then Coated Braids SuperMantis, Mantis Gold, Snakebite, and Snakeskin. Have used the Standard Braids for the Past 15 years with no problems, and the Coated Braids since the Late 90's. My Rigs are the same i have used since the early 90's and are pictured on the Rig Tying Sticky at the top of this section.
shakey
whats the best braided hooklinks to use i use korda 15lb florocarbon stifflinks any suggestions of veiws on what i already use Loads of braided hook length material out there. My personal favourites are Krystons Merlin and Silkworm. I prefer to fish one over clean gravel the other in more weeder conditions. As Pezza mentioned a combi link material such as stripteaze is a good starting point if you want to combine a florocarb with a braid. I personally use Supermantis for 90% of my fishing, but I always have a spool of Merlin & Silkworm in my rucksack incase I think I need to make a change
Guest nismo
I actually get on quite well wix Fox's Snare. Used Supernova for donkeys but thought i would try the Snare & to be honest i think i prefer it. It doesn't seem to fray as much as the Supernova & so makes rig tying a lot easier

I do Burn the ends down with a Cigarette Lighter though which does prevent this happening anyway.
