mrs_rusheslake Posted May 21, 2010 Report Posted May 21, 2010 It is shocking to read that another fishery has, due to family & other reasons, closed. As far as their website says all monies will be refunded and a letter to this effect is being sent to everyone who has booked for 2010. The lake also has a booking agent which will obviously be dealing with customers booked through themselves. I am sure there will be numerous disappointed anglers, with ferries & time off work booked, facing a frantic search for an alternative venue. There are many French venue sponsors of this forum who, I am sure, will put in much effort to try and ensure that as many of these anglers find a suitable venue. If you are one of these anglers then please add to this thread your dates, & number of anglers. The carp.com lake owners will then, I am sure, help in whatever way they can. Quote
carpquarry Posted May 21, 2010 Report Posted May 21, 2010 Sorry to hear that and all the best to the owners and hope you get things sorted out. As regards anglers that are stuck we at Carpquarry have plenty of space for 2010 and may be worth a look if our venue fits your bill. I will also offer discounts on the prices for 2010 which shoud make up for if you need to change ferrys etc just mention carp.com to me Regards Gordon www.carpquarry.co.uk Quote
tugs Posted May 21, 2010 Report Posted May 21, 2010 We are/were booked to go here for the week commencing 19th June. Obviously the ferry is booked (2 cars) and we are left in limbo.. I have been trying to get hold of Steve (the owner) all morning with no sucsess. Other than the message now posted on his website I have had no correspondance from him and more importantly we have not had our £1000 back all though he does say he will be refunding everyone - the problem we have is how long before we get the refund so we can at least start the desperate search for an alternative at short notice. We are still happy to go to Lac-Unique, dispite the negative comments posted on another forum. But until we can speak with Steve or receive any correcpondance from him we are up a creak. Mike Quote
etangdebrigueuil Posted May 21, 2010 Report Posted May 21, 2010 Well done Kim for highlighting the problems that some people may have. I must say it is not something we would have thought of. We do have some space left in June and July probably because of the football. If people have booked a ferry and or hotels on the way down in France and are looking for alternative venues then if there is anything we can do to help your holidays go smoother please give us a call. Also we would like to send our condolences to Lac Unique. Again well done Kim for bringing this up. Quote
tugs Posted May 21, 2010 Report Posted May 21, 2010 Well just got home and theres a letter and a cheque in the post so Steve has honnered what he said on the website and returned the money. Very sad as was looking forward to going. Oh well the search is on to find a replacement lake for week comencing 19th June. Only 3 of us going now. Looking for somewhere to go thats no more than 3 or 4 hours drive from Caliais. Sugestions welcomed. Mike Quote
mrs_rusheslake Posted May 21, 2010 Author Report Posted May 21, 2010 If thats your definite criteria then Genesis fits the bill. See the banner and give eddy a pm. His user name is genesislake. Quote
strag Posted May 22, 2010 Report Posted May 22, 2010 We have lost our booking for early July. We are hoping that the refund arrives soon so we can get something else sorted. Quote
tugs Posted May 23, 2010 Report Posted May 23, 2010 Thankfully we have provisionally booked (subject to the cheque from Lac Unique clearing) another lake down near Le Mans. I would like to thank Gordon at Carpquarry for his generous offer but i didn't fancy the 7 hour drive down from Calais, It is certainly one to consider next year, as is Genesis. Thanks for your replies guys. I hope others that were booked can also find replacement venues. Mike Quote

Just got back from Le Mans Was looking at Unique before we booked Le Mans, but it was full for the year. Have looked at the website and it seems strange to me that he has closed down because of few comments on a forum, more to it? Quote
tugs Posted May 24, 2010 Report Posted May 24, 2010 Old Oaks, (Sister lake to Larousi). looks okay and feedback so far this year is all good so I just hope the Lac Unique cheque clears... Mike Quote
strag Posted June 6, 2010 Report Posted June 6, 2010 We have received a cheque from Lac Unique now and have booked lake Juvanze. Hope Unique can get themselves sorted and wish them all the best. Quote
tugs Posted June 6, 2010 Report Posted June 6, 2010 Cheque cleared with no problem so Steve was good for his word. Looking forward to Old Oaks now.. Hope that Lac Unique does reopen as he has done a hell of a lot of work there since Kevin Maddocks days. Quote

david1951 Posted June 10, 2010 Report Posted June 10, 2010 It is sad when any venue has to close down whatever the reason!! There have been several reports in the past 2 months of lakes in The Champagne Region losing lots of fish, whatever reason has caused the closure of Lac Unique, hats off to the owner for honouring his promise to refund his customers. I have not read the alleged slagging reports on any forum, perhaps they have been removed? I would be surprised though if a few bad reviews would cause a lake owner/operator to close his lake. Anyway it is history now! Quote
