  1. Hi Guys Looking to head over to Catch 22 in Lyng (Norfolk) next week for three nights. I have done some research but most of the stuff I've found is pre 2010. I wondered if anybody had any recent information about the place? Anything would be appreciated! Cheers.
  2. Nick, I'm bringing this out of the grave lol! Any idea if there are any carp along the section by the uea??
  3. Amazing trips, both times mate. You make me want to get myself over there! Next year I'm going for sure! Nice one!
  4. Nice one, cheers nick. I think I'm going to rice Premier Baits Randoms a go. It's my first year fishing and budget is an issue. The Randoms are cheap, and as you say if people are chucking a lot of different bait in it may not make a big difference! Cheers for your help bud.
  5. Induction week, don't start until 11! It's a masters anyway, I've done my three years of drinking and sleeping, I have to work this year The broad is on site so I'm going to go and take a look around in a minute!
  6. Well thats a lake I won't be joining then!
  7. And ok nick, excuse my ignorance, what kind of effect do otters have on the fishing? I know they are potentially dangerous to the carp which is a bit of a turn off for me!
  8. I was thinking of joining, because ill be a UEA student it will just be £25 for me!
  9. Has anybody fished the lake at the University of East Anglia? I am due to start my masters there tomorrow and thought it would be perfect to get an over nighter in after uni! I wondered if anybody had any info on it? Im thinking maybe Nick will?? Cheers! Sam!
  10. Thanks for your insight emmcee, I appreciate it!
  11. What is fishing in France like in the winter? Anybody ever given it a go?? Cheers guys
  12. Ok nice one guys, I'm going to give them a call in a minute! Sam.
  13. Hi guys, After my blank today I'm planning a trip back to Taswood lakes for either a 12 hour day session or a 24 hour session if I can get my hands on a bivvy. Now obviously with it being a short session I'll take a walk around the lank and try to find the best signs of fish. If there are no absolutely obvious signs, would you guys suggest that I cast around with a bare lead and try to find some gravel sports and fish them? Or would you suggest just going towards one of the many lilly beds or island features on the lake? Also has anybody fished Heron at Taswood and have any advice? Cheers, Sam.
  14. I'm yet to work out what a choddy is! Lol!
  15. Exactly right! I enjoyed the day none the less and learnt a lot from a couple of guys I met down there.
  16. I blanked! Really nice lake though
  17. Hi guys! Im going to Aldeby pits tomorrow (suffolk/norfolk?) and was wandering if anybody had been there before and had any tips? Thanks! Sam.
  18. Ok I think I'll take the 'keep a few made up' advice from Dr NM ! Btw thanks guys for all these answers. I think this is potentially the most helpful form I've been on!! And, just to fulfil your request NM, what is the best way to sharpen hooks? A lot of people have mentioned sharpening the hooks beyond how they come straight out of the pack. Can anybody give me some pointers as to the best tools to use? Thanks again
  19. Ok so, experiment with hair length
  20. Ok cool I'm going to try and set up a trip to Catch 22 at some point in the future I continually hear good things about that place!!
  21. Thanks for all the replies guys. I'm taking all this info on board!! I was using a single boilie when the problem on this post occurred, however I did try a snowman and had the same problem. I will try and experiment with all your ideas guys! Thanks very much for the help
  22. Hi Crucian, Yeah I do have to use barbless, and I think I prefer too as well - I don't like to think the fish is getting hurt during de hooking etc!
  23. https://imageshack.com/i/pdFy5gZ0j https://imageshack.com/i/excqn4zOj Those photos are of my rig, one with and one without the sinking tube that goes on the mainline Edit:- if the fish picks up the bait and applies a bit of tension/movement the lead will slip off of the Korda anti tangle sleeve and run freely down the line!
  24. I've never been to taswood carpinthenet I've just heard some negative stuff, may still give it a go! Thanks for the suggestions!!
