  1. have a look on ebay mate, loads on there.
  2. you make a good point about the splinter thing but ive also seen underwater footage of fish using the lead to shake rigs out,i dont think it was korda but somthing on you tube
  3. another point cm, when you see these dangerous rigs being shown on social media theyve all still got the lead attached, so to my mind theyve been successfuly ejected
  4. yeah totally agree using lighter bottom to mainline alleviates the problems
  5. one of the reasons for dropping leads is to get the fish up in the water when fishing over weed, now were told to eject leads on every take, for what reason i dont know. i will say for the record i dont fish with a fixed lead set up even though i feel itd be a safer way to fish. as i said in another thread ive found fish with rusted hooks stuck in infected mouths still towing line with the lead ejected and when ive seen horror pics of tethered fish theyve allways ejected the lead aswell.
  6. if the fish loses the lead its still got the rig/leader/mainline to get rid of but without any leverage
  7. not if the lead stays fixed,if it slips down the leader then yeah its gonna catch on something and tether,if the fish sheds the lead and is still attached to a leader and mainline the first thing itl do is find some snags, sulk and start shaking the leader around trying to get rid, personaly this is when i think the tethering occurs
  8. if its towing the lead its got more chance of ejecting the rig than if its just trailing a leader. if you think about what makes a running rig effective its the fact it cant use the lead to eject the hook, its the same principal imo
  9. bottom bait-bog standard knotless knot,size 4 drennan continental,ntrap soft. pop up- hsr,size 4 stiff rigger,25lb mouthtrap,various differnt boom materials.
  10. yeah its obviously been tied by a novice, but in theory the mechanics are right just used the wrong components
  11. the one on the lefts gotta be a joke. the one on the rights not as dangerous as weve been brainwashed into believing, if you think about it and dont believe the hype that is.
  12. this is why i think its safer to have the tail rubber on tight and lead clip pegged rather than ejecting the lead or having it sliding down the line
  13. totally agree chillfactor/nmo1/rosstheangler. ive caught 2 carp that have been trailing rigs with no lead but a length of leadcore, both of these rigs had left swelling and infection were the partialy rusted hook was still attached. ive never seen rusty hooks in fishes mouths when the leads were still attached, only fresh hooks, which makes me think they need the lead as the pivot to eject the hook/rig. i noticed in another thread pictures of apparent death rigs, both rigs were successfully ejected so how is it a death rig. has anyone found tethered carp with the lead still attached?
  14. sounds like another rig to fill magazine/dvd space imo
  15. i suppose it depends on how big the fish that approaches the rig is and what angle its feeding at. if it was approached from above it probably wouldnt look out of place thinking about it.
  16. your hookbait will be sat high up but free offerings on the deck, not ideal really
  17. depends what im fishing for and if im fishing it as a single or over a spread of boilies. if its a single or im trying to avoid smaller fish then its about 3to4 inch, any size fish its about 2inch.
  18. i use the hsr and just change the boom section to suit what im fishing over.
  19. cech and schniderlin moves happenin soon apparently, definate steps in the right direction if they actually happen.
  20. crimps make life so much easier when using chods/hsr im surprised more people dont use them, much quicker and less putty needed. young carper once youve crimped give it another squeeze on the next gauge down on your crimping pliers and blob the tag end,ive had one slip using the recomended setting, not had a problem with this method, thats if you dont already.
  21. i was packing up and waiting it out, rod went off while i was having a slash so ran and caught my shin on the end pole.
  22. ive cut the kicker down so it dosnt sit as high, it works well as a bottom bait rig aswell, if the palm test is anything to go by it flips instantly. i think myles gasgoine used a variation with stiff rig material almost the same as the hsr but with a bent hooklink section.
  23. the shrink tube version needs steaming and reshaping after each fish also the crays seem to enjoy chewing it, the kickers seem more hardwearing and are already in the shape i want. its much less complicated than the hsr(less components). tbh been off work today after running full pelt into my bedchair and knackering my leg, so been tying rigs that ill probably never use.
  24. ive been playing around with a different pop up presentation, hsr seems to be gettin used more n more so fancied a change, i needed the eye to go through the ace sit up and beg kicker but the opposite way round. managed to get the gardner size 4 chod to fit by bending the eye straight and adding a bit of shrink tubing.
  25. just ordered the super specialist barbels, they look like what im after, cheers.
