  1. Phil, those snips look identical to something I just bought, Fox edge something or other. But I paid 8.99 for mine. So basically an extra quid for them to emboss 'fox' on them! I'm glad you rate them! When mine arrive I'll let you know how I get on.
  2. Sorry about multiple posts, I'm going to order some 'Fox Braid Blades' and I'll let you know what they're like when they arrive. Can't be much worse than I've got at the moment....
  3. Arrr, they look a bit like these? http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/like/151547506530?limghlpsr=true&hlpv=2&ops=true&viphx=1&hlpht=true&lpid=108&chn=ps&device=c&adtype=pla&crdt=0&ff3=1&ff11=ICEP3.0.0-L&ff12=67&ff13=80&ff14=108&ff19=0
  4. I'm actually in the market for some too, so interested to see the replies here. The guy in this video has a good looking pair of snips, wonder what they are? http://youtu.be/Vds2Ml3pfo0?t=4m34s
  5. I still don't think I have clear in my mind the detailed mechanics of which method to use in what scenario. Anyone prepared to link me an explanation?
  6. I say go for it. Back leads have got to be a valid discussion point while on the topic of bite indication? I like hearing everyone's experiences and opinions about this stuff.
  7. It's this one. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h37khkoF6ng No doubt. I bought some goo though so now I'm feeling a tad self conscious lol
  8. Nm, watch this one! seriously, it isn't saying like "I fish tight lines because I'm using the new Nash zimzam3000 bobbins" the bit where he's talking about indication he's just making a case based on transmission of bite down the line. I guess you could argue that there is a bit of a sales pitch from the intercut footage of the diver though? If, and I'm assuming to see all of that footage you have to buy it?
  9. I had a read of preview page on Nash website. There are some pretty bold claims which you'd expect them to provide evidence for in time. The thing with marketing is, people have a short memory, people will have forgotten any outrageous claims made early on, but it will have got everyone talking about it. It being sat in people's subconscious means it will sell.
  10. Yeah of course they are trying to sell their gear, there was lots of shots of their products close up etc, but what he was saying about bite indication had no sales pitch attached I don't think? I'm interested to hear about some of this bizarre stuff, could you link me please or give me terms to Google? When people start coming out with mad things, I think it's interesting to try and analyse where their business is right now, how they see themselves Vs. where they're trying to get to.
  11. Nash do make a nice video. Enjoyed their urban banx series too, really brilliantly shot and edited. As for indication, don't think I can fault the logic? I mean the guy even commissioned testing with a diver! So of all the people to be taking advice from with regards indication, got to be difficult to argue with? Anyone know what the details are on that maggot rig? Was that a clip he was using with some kind of clip cover? That's my complaint with clips is they have a really horrible knack of getting caught in the landing net. Help?
  12. Oh I seeee. Well dear admin, don't worry about moving my reply i paraphrased it above just fine
  13. Fair enough. Maybe it was because it wasn't really a specific answer? I was just waffling on about how it's hard to answer, there is alot of variables that make people decide on what's appropriate for a particular situation, different people gain confidence in different things, and that most people have a handful of rigs they go to and tweak to suite. And to keep an open mind. Definitely didn't swear lol maybe you're right and it didn't actually post.
  14. Oh, notice my reply has been removed. Sincere apologies if there was something offensive or against the rules written.
  15. I don't think they're at all pressured. I'm counting the day til I can get down there...and blank! hehe, No, I've given myself a year to bank one, that way if I do it in a few sessions I'll have totally exceeded my goals for this year.
  16. I'll guess, slack lines to minimise the chances of liners, and he's banking on his lead doing the hook setting and getting a fairly aggressive take? Also, I've been thinking about slack lines; does he happen to say at what range he fishes that setup. I'd like to think that if your fishing fairly close in you'd still get an indication without a whole lot of movement if fishing semi-slack lines. What weight lead?
  17. Sorry Nm, I didn't get the right end of the stick there. Yes actually, we've kind of been talking about this lake in other threads - this was the same place I was talking about pre-baiting. I can't remember what I said in the other threads, but I'm going to try and fish 'natural' baits for reasons we discussed. Have been experimenting with some artificial corn, I'd prefer to go balanced so it sinks slow, but haven't found the right combination of weight/buoyancy to get it sinking as slow as I would like yet. It's tricky because the corn is that much smaller than a boilie so balancing it is a pain. I'd like not to have any shot immediately under it (working on possibly making a cavity under the corn to poke some weight in). This all sounds very complicated but it's actually an attempt to make the rig simple and get the corn to sit as natural as possible. My backup, if I feel like there's too much chance of masked hook point or I keep getting leaves etc on the return, will be the corn just slightly popped up. pic attached, sorry about quality;
  18. Afraid not, I won't be able to fish it until about 4 weeks time. The lake is out of action while they do works. When it's open I'll be straight down there.

    Loop Knot Help

Well, that's food for thought. See the way I approach things now is, the next fish might be the catch of a life time, or the year, or the session, whatever, if there's even the remote chance of it not performing or failing then I want out! I tried a tail over a hook swivel, it seems on the face of it ok. But i can't help but think if you're unlucky when your fish is in a snag or weeds and manages to get lead hooked up long enough to head in the opposite direction to your mainline then conceivably it could slide off?
  20. You rescued them, That's cool! Yeah be good to see them getting on the grub.
  21. Once you're below the surface with nothing for scale the size of the fish is deceptive
  22. Great! Inquisitive in your pond aren't they!

    Loop Knot Help

Some sound advice here gents, I'm going to tie some bits tonight and tomorrow, drop them in the tank and see how I feel. Many many thanks!

    Loop Knot Help

Nm, I've got some of those in a size 8 already. Ready for the stupid question? How'd you stop the loop slipping off that hook?

    Loop Knot Help

Well I realised it did make me look a bit of a wally! Yeah, I'm aiming for simplicity. Least amount of joins and components possible. My fishing is not about to become a bite a minute anyway so in terms of changing over hookbaits and getting rods back out I think I'll be happy with a loop.
