  1. yh i hear i shouldn't use dead baits because they will swallow them far down! well i know i I'm allowed to fish to fish for them at my lake anytime of the year. i think you are probably right there il give it a go at the weekend with a spinner
  2. Ive done a lot of pike fishing in the last few years but only ever in the winter, is it alright to be fishing for them now?? the lake I'm fishing at the moment holds a large amount of small pike but have heard i shouldn't be fishing for them in the spring and summer? thanks joe
  3. i was going to put on a photo i managed to get of one of the carp jumping out of the water but can't add it to my album for some reason
  4. well tbh i have no idea how my bait is presentated, i am fishing in about 3ft of silt with a bottom bait with a lead clip set up so for all i know the bait could be buried deep into the silt. i would guess the fish are feeding in the silt a lot because in the evenings carp are jumping out more than usual But the rod have been casting towards the deeper part of the lake has only produced one fish for me so far (other rod is in the margin so i have a very light lead, don't have to cast far and using a multi rig, so i doubt my hook and bait has dug into the silt) so i could of got lucky and could be missing a lot of chances, if i found my hook was deep in the silt i would even though they could be feeding deep in the silt i would change my set up so the bait is on top because i think i would be a lot more likely for the carp too find and get hooked on my rig.

4am in the morning on a multi rig
  6. im guessing you don't use lead core then? i use tubing instead because i don't like splicing but i thought most people used it
  7. didn't think you could do that! i thought a helicopter rig is just with a simple hair rig coming off the lead core
  8. i know picks cottage in North london has a lake with cats in it, don't know how big though
  9. hi guys, thanks for all your responses, will all be taken into consideration. never heard of a essex rig?? At this lake i am mainly fishing quite far out but one of my rods is in the margin so thanks for that, will diffinatly try the stringer. The silt is a very light brown colour, so that should be alright. Am think about putting foam round my hook but always have a stringer so i don't think that would work. once again thanks for all your reply's joe
  10. by soft braid do you mean uncoated?? i would have fished a chod rig but everyone uses that so i thought i would go with a multi rig, seems to have payed off
  11. recently I've been fishing a lake that is just covered in really soft silt. I've looked at my 2 different set ups (lead clip, inline lead) in the margins and a lot of the time the hook link sits up because the lead sinks into the silt, how do i stop this? or is there another set up that works over the silt? i heard that helicopter rigs work best? thanks in advance joe
