okay well i can't see nothing wrong with that, how do u know the were actually bites, they could have just been fish swimming into your line
-
well what hooks were u using?? normally if your using a 2.5oz lead u shouldn't need to stike cuz the lead will hook the fish for u

i use to rigs which are both very effective on most waters and also very simple to tie this one is my wafter or boilie rig, when i use a wafter with it i always put a small shot on the hair cuz i use a bit of fake buoyant corn with it. i use a light in lead and a anti tangle sleeve so it never tangles when casting, i prefer inline leads because i find them better for casting and playing the fish. i strip back a bit of the coated braid after the shrink tubing. i use a size 6 curve shank hook and a small bit of shrink tubing because this makes the rig have great hook holds and never come out. there is a rig ring o the shank of the hook to make a blow back effect. this is the pop up rig i use, a multi rig. this is surprisingly simple to tie and a very effective rig that has amazing hook holds which the hook never comes out. the hook is attached by a loop so then there is a tag end which is where i place my split shot so the rig sits upright in the water and then has a very aggressive curve from the shrink tubing and curved hook. again i use i inline lead and a anti tangle sleeve.

i was going to put on a photo i managed to get of one of the carp jumping out of the water but can't add it to my album for some reason

well tbh i have no idea how my bait is presentated, i am fishing in about 3ft of silt with a bottom bait with a lead clip set up so for all i know the bait could be buried deep into the silt. i would guess the fish are feeding in the silt a lot because in the evenings carp are jumping out more than usual But the rod have been casting towards the deeper part of the lake has only produced one fish for me so far (other rod is in the margin so i have a very light lead, don't have to cast far and using a multi rig, so i doubt my hook and bait has dug into the silt) so i could of got lucky and could be missing a lot of chances, if i found my hook was deep in the silt i would even though they could be feeding deep in the silt i would change my set up so the bait is on top because i think i would be a lot more likely for the carp too find and get hooked on my rig.

4am in the morning on a multi rig -
im guessing you don't use lead core then? i use tubing instead because i don't like splicing but i thought most people used it
-
didn't think you could do that! i thought a helicopter rig is just with a simple hair rig coming off the lead core
