OK, I just couldn't figure out the size of bead needed, plus how it would be a safe rig should the main line snap? I prefer not to use a leader if possible to be honest, would it be possible to set up a similar system without one?

I am wanting to duplicate a setup Ali used on Korda Underwater 8. He has an inline lead running up the leader but on the leader he has a bead, the lead hits the bead and acts as a shocker to help hook the fish. Im not sure how to set this up and make it safe. He says the bead is around the tungsten on the safe zone leader, does that mean the tungsten that is embedded inside the leader or has he put some tungsten putty around the leader? And how can the bead and lead come off if the mainline snaps? I have a picture of the rig:

Yes pal. Some of the other guys there were saying it wasnt fishing as well as it should do, but I ended up with 11 so it wasn't too bad. For the first 3 hours I had nothing, just little knocks. Then at around 2.45pm they started biting hard. First fish was a 6lber on my boilie rod, and following that I caught all sorts on my second rod which had a bread pellet/mushroom on it. My final fish of the session was the biggest, certainly not a monster but still a nice fish (weighed just over 9lb):

I was planning on using a simple swim feeder setup, but thinking about it now I might try that on one rod and stick with a lead/boilie/PVA bag on the second. I hope the fish like shelf life Source boilies though as I have run out of my Cell freezer boilies... Then on the other rod I can rotate sweetcorn/pellet/meat/etc and see what happens.

I was just wondering if anyone had fished at Longford Fishery? Im planning on heading there tomorrow. If I remember right there are 7 waters on the complex, the one im interested it in called the Big Lake as it is for pleasure anglers only, has a good head of fish included Carp up to 30lb (that's what im told anyway). I have fished it once before, but I was only there for a short amount of time. Using sweetcorn in the margins I was catching but only seemed to get very small Carp (between 1 - 4lb. These fish still put up a great fight but I would prefer to catch the upper singles and bigger if possible. If anyone here has fished it what tactics would you recommend?

Went fishing on Thursday for silvers, had 12 in total, mostly bream, a roach and a perch. Dad also had about 12. We went again on Sunday to a 'commercial', I had 12 carp and a gudgeon, and he had 14 carp. There was a match on this lake though so I guess it is to be expected that our catch rate was down.

Well at least im not the only one having problems... i'm going fishing tomorrow anyway so I will report back how I get on!

My dad fished a small match type water on Saturday which is filled with small 3lb - 8lb carp. Normally he catches between 15 - 20 in a 6 hour session, along with missing or losing another 5 - 10, but he only managed get 8 bites/fish on Saturday. There are tench in the water but usually you dont catch them because the carp get to your bait first, but guess what, he caught one on saturday. Another example, there is another place that I suppose classes as a commerical which is full of carp between 4lb - 10lb+. I have personally had 25 out whilst my dad had 33 in a session, but my dads friend went the other day and only had 2 fish. Basically I was wondering if anyone knew why the fish might have stopped biting at the moment? As far as I can tell the weather hasnt changed much over the last few weeks to have such a dramatic affect on bite rate.

This WOULD interest me as im fairly local but not for £350! Why is it so expensive? A season ticket at my local water is around £45, and you can also fish for Tench, Pike, Bream, etc.

The fish in my area go to around the 22lb mark I believe perhaps 25lb. Not that I can catch them

i used to use iq but changed to iq2 this year and have to say my catch rate has improved and the hookholds are better, never had problems with iq2 tangling either. mufty I think i'll go for the IQ2 then, would 12lb be enough or should I opt for 15lb?

I like the look of Korda IQ actually, it seems compared to IQ2 the regular IQ is stiffer to prevent tangles so might get some of that, but what breaking strain? I use Daiwa Sensor 12lb as my main line.

Im looking for some decent mono or fluro line for use as hooklink material, I want it to sink well, and be clear. I was looking at Sufix Magic Touch but it only comes in green on ebay, surely clear would be a better all rounder?

I was just wondering if anyone has fished this place? Its supposed to have decent tench and carp but im not really sure on the rules, all I know is keep nets arent allowed. I could do with knowing if micro barbed hooks are allowed or not, and if any baits are banned.

Ah right, well I dont know if you've been but there are 2 sides to the res separated by a train bridge, the far side (Swanwick side) is doing good, but the Ripley side where I usually fish is pretty bad. The bailiff said yesterday that a couple have been coming out here and there but its nothing like it was last year. I think im going to try the Swanwick side today (if it isnt full up that is!)

I dont know if anyone here is from the East Midlands/Ripley area, but if so I was wondering if anyone knew how Codnor Park is fishing at the moment? My local fishery is Butterley Res, and ive been down there 3 times in the last week and not had a single fish. The last I heard Codnor was also doing pretty bad, but its been a long time since ive been, so does anyone know if its fishing better or has it been restocked?

Is this setup ok? Or will bigger carp end up snapping it? The braid is Korda Supernatural and the mainline is ESP Crystal mono.

I'm interested in fishing here and was wondering if anyone here has been? Any details would be great, all I know about it is that it has 4 lake's, one of them being a 'specimen' lake. Does anyone know which lake is best to fish on a day ticket, and what the rules are? I'm looking to catch carp but my dad is interested in the other fish, so we need to pick a lake that is good for both of us.

I recently purchased some hooks off ebay, only to find the braid used on them floats a little. I use PVA bags so in theory the hook link should end up buried under all my free bait, but surely after fish have been rummaging through it for a while it will become visible?

I received the hooks today (size 8 barbed) and they are great, really happy with them. Tried them out today, I had one rod set up with these hooks w/ a pop up boilie and one set up on sweetcorn with size 10 hooks. I only got a few knocks + a Bream on the pop up but its a good start I was getting a few tangles + I got stuck on the bottom a few times though, hopefully my catches will improve when I can reduce these occurrences.

Yeah I think I will go for Size 8, I use Size 10 at the moment and they are pretty small so Size 8 should be better. I'd rather buy rather than make myself because its just less hassle, plus I dont have to worry about my lack of knot tying skills letting me down when I get a fish on

I'm planning on ordering some pre-made hair rigs from ebay and was wondering which size hook I should go for? The hooks are black, anti-glare, and have 20LB weed-green braid with a size 8 rolling swivel. I can choose from hook sizes 12, 10, 8 or 6. I will be choosing the micro-barbed versions btw.
