  1. yep he swears by it. it all looks wrong to me but it works. he had 5 30,s out of a difficult shropshire water doing this. and he wouldnt dream of using less than 10 kilos round each hookbait. i quote " if you wana do what all them other helmets on the lake are doing with your 15mm bottom bait and bit of plastic corn and a kilo of freebies than go for it, small baits are for small fish and id rather get a good nights kip than catch a 20" like i said, hes a krazy krazy bloke.
  2. would just like to congratulate ian mad dog im totally insane breach on his latest catch from france. got him in carp talk and carpworld this month. if anyone has ever fished with him you will know just what a nutter he is but truly lovely. " breachy, you cant cast out a 5 ounce lead with a 32mm bottom bait with a 20mm snowman top." "really? watch this" well done mate, see you next week.
  3. im with you on that. keep looking at pics of it and i cant see it being any better than standard knotless
  4. cant say ive ever used it but been reading a few articles on it. after some personal opinions on it. do you think its any better than a standard knotless knot??
  5. what a simple double double overhand knot?
  6. the multi rig. make with jelly wire and nash fang. ive used it as pop up, double bottom bait, snowman and even with 2 bits of maize on to catch our best fish.
  7. as always, fantastic informing reply. thanks nick.
  8. afternoon all, when using a line aligner be it pop up or bottom bait some say to use a huge blob of putty on the hooklink to help the tubing turn and set the hook, yet i was thinking would not a big blob of putty or shot prevent the hooklink from being sucked back in the fishes mouth, being heavy?? thoughts please chaps!! wils.
  9. Thanks nick, so would you be happy with a running rig over particle? And you would be confident that the fish will hook itself ok even when quite stationary hoovering up hemp and maize grains? Sorry if I sound like I'm on repeat mode we just get told by many mags and authors that for a fish to hook itself on a running rig you need a wide scattering to get the fish moving between baits so it picks yours up , goes to move to the next bait and bingo. Long as your sure il be ok with my simple running rigs il sleep better tonight!! Thanks in advance, wils
  10. Nice one, il stick to my running rigs then!! Was just concerned that when there isn't the weight of the lead to drive the hook home and the fish are not moving much and are rather stationary over the particle id be getting 'done' Might try fixed on one and running on the other and compare results!
  11. Think they are all easy to get at, pop up there and have a wander round,I've just lost count of tales of thefts and drunks coming round at night. However,on a brighter note, I also heard a while ago that a 'lady' was known to come round the lakes at night offering company for a small charge!! How true that is I don't know bt just something I heard on the grapevine!!!
  12. Would the fish still not have to move a fair way to hit the shocker bead? And when fishing over beds of hemp etc they aparently don't do that? Suppose my question is what lead arrangement is best for fishing over beds of particle to hook the fish while keeping good bite indication?
  13. Sleep with one eye open, I'm from that area and I've heard story's of gear going missing in the night . . . . . . . . .
  14. i fish a old estate lake near where i live in stroud glos. aww, i tenched for years as a kid in a old club lake next to whelford pools/horseshoe , where i grew up. was fantastic watching huge tench take your breadflake in gin clear gravel pits 6 yards out!!! roll on the summer holidays (i work in a school) 7 weeks of a bivvy!!
  15. yeah mate, wel ive had a spomb for ages and yeah they are great but had a few balls ups when hemp gets behind the release clip and i find it sometimes dont open unless it hits the clip and then drops vertical. i tend to just add some blended pellet to my hemp n maize til its abit stodgy and use my old spod. if id saved every penny that ive wasted on faddy bollox in fishin i wouldnt have a mortgage now and be retired at 31!! cant wait to get the kit now and give it a whirl. hope it works with other bags aswell as i have a mountain of korda and kryston ones!!! roll on june the 16th!!!!!!!
  16. cheers chap, that was my concern as ive lost count the amount of times ive bought the "latest thing" as its sure to be the bogs dollocks and it never works right!! thanks for that review, il add it to my erics order that started of being 30 quid and is now at nearly 400!! thanks again mate.
  17. morning brighton, was looking at that system, maybe you could do a quick review?
  18. and how does one get a rig that long in a pva bag?
  19. CHAD LAKES. MORETON IN THE MARSH small day ticket lake with 2 islands in the middle. they claim 26 is the biggest in there. last time i fished it i had 14 in a weekend up to 19. syndicate lake there is tiny and home to blackeye, 6 angler sydi 3 on 3 off. think about 800 a year.
  20. that means semi fixed and poor indication
  21. anyone use running rigs with beds of maize and hemp and tigers?? i know the general feeling is running rigs are a big no no as you need fish movement to get indication on a running set up. however i would miss the fantastic indications from running rigs and would really like to avoid the semi fixed set ups as ive had many situations where fish have moved 20 yards in a arc before i get so much as a beep!! i normally use the multi rig with a huge blob of putty to help set the hook on running leads with a wide scattering of boilies to encourage fish moving from one bait to the next but planning a particle approach this year. your thoughts please chaps and ladies?? mark
  22. running lead with a mega long hooklength. wont matter what your casting over, your bait will be presented and you will have amazing sensitivity from the running rig J.D
  23. hello! yeah i diagram would be good thank you, however nicks idea of the link on lead to sink in silt is great. going to thread funnel web up length of hooklink and thread pva nuggets longways with a needle down the ledger link, would never tangle in a month of sundays. i like the sound of yor idea except i hate dumping leads unless i really have to (snag fishing etc) as i have a feeling in years to come fisheries are going to pay for anglers dumping tons of lead in water!! also with a inline i feel sensitivity would be lost as when the lead digs into the silt would cause a restriction on the line being pulled through it. another reason why i dont want to drop the lead is that its important to use a real heavy lead so it acts as a anchor/ pivot point. impossible to get a drop back! mark
