  1. thanks for the replys fellas. coops- nice1 for that mate, i think some were gutted and others were quite happy that we will stay in the uk now. so france is regretably def off. as for the naseby resrvoir, i like what i see and will def keep that in mind. brighton carper- we was meant to go linear last november but opted for orchid lakes due to the tackle theft going on down linear. can you reflect on this? is it that bad? surely there is decent security for a place that has such a great complex as this. id love to go just dont fancy my gear being robbed by a pikey lol carp 1971- wow that is one monster of a place, id get lost i think lol zammmo- looks like a dream place, superb award winning venue. def keep this for reference thanks for helping, like you say coops theres so many to choose from. all in all i should have a great time. its about getting away from things aswell as the fishing. all the best for the new season all.
  2. hi all, after unforced circumstances our trip to france is cancelled. our money was refunded, the times booked off work. we was scheduled to go on may 5th, so as you know theres prob not a great deal of time to organise and book elsewhere, so where to go in the uk? i myself am a moderate carp angler, ive been fishing about a year now with my pb at 14.3. all the others i was going with are experienced and are mentioning places like bluebell but im fair to hold my hands up and think this is a little out of my depth, not saying i dont fish with confidence, i just believe my skills will come in time. im just generally interested in somewhere where i can get a few runs and maybe beat my pb? i personally fancied drayton reservoir but what ive read on how battered the fish are, i dont realy want to add to that. mileage isnt a problem and any ideas on places will be great. thanks for reading.
  3. Thanks for the pointer frenchboy. I caught my very first carp on a Nash halibut boilie, albeit only a few pound, but il never forget it I've been carping abit now and i seem to use the hyped up baits. I think anything with robin red shouldn't go a miss either. I've always had success on it.
  4. you have a nice fishery there mate, quite like the history that goes with it. your lake is the size i am used to fishing as i feel more confident. il def keep this in mind as this will be my first year carp fishing in france, so if i enjoy it then it will be a regular holiday for me i think. all the best and thanks for the help.
  5. exactly, that is my concern but i suppose theres nothing we can do but take a chance, and nothings ever a certainty anyway is it. but il know more nearer the time of going i expect. you will have to say what your lake is for future reference
  6. yeah its les rivets. thanks for the advice and il most likely do that. the info i know is he will be feeding them all around the lake and in different swims to move them around the lake. and like u say i think the pellet will be my best bet as theyve been reared on them. when we go it will have been opened for its 6th week of fishing so im thinking if the boilies would of been piled in for 6 weeks or from the re-stock in jan, maybe a question i should ask. but also i think info will be short as there wont be many that have been there to ask. anyway i cant wait. thanks again
  7. thanks cobleyn, thats some moster that in your pic. where was that at and what weight? fair play. bet that had some fight
  8. oh yeah, its all above board lol. the fishery sell all there own boillies and particles, which are matrix plus which ive read these are good and i will go with them, i want to have a little competition on each rod and find out which does the best, and then il obv switch to whats being the most productive, well hopefully anyway. i want to take some with me, maybe a few kilo of cell, grange, or nash monster squid for my hookbait. its cheaper for pre-order but more expensive for the fisheries baits, when we are there. ive emailed the owner he says go with 5 kilo and i no as much il need more. this is why i ask what people think. the one thing also bugging me, this is a new stock, and come from a fishfarm and reared on pellet, so do you think these will be easier to catch and less spooked or be hard as there new to there new habitat and surroundings?
  9. okay abit vague i agree. the lake is 9 acres with a stock of 260 french royale grass, common and mirror carp to 46 lbs. mostly 20's to 25s it is spring and river fed and the bottom of the lake is sand with gravel in some areas. the depths are 4ft to 19 ft in some areas with an average of 7ft. by the time we will go the lake will be into its 6th week of fishing. from re-opening. this will be a new stocking of the lake, were going early may. so im hoping the weather is good . im just trying to get a rough idea of the amount of bait il need from experienced anglers that have fished for this length of time and on a lake this size. as i havnt. thanks
  10. Hello all, im off to france soon for 7 days, the lake is about 9 acres. could anyone share with me how many kilos I'd expect to take of hemp, pellet, boilies etc for the weeks session. Any help would be great, thanks
  11. I agree with all parts. I will most likely go with the fishery bait. But il also take a plan b, maybe activ 8, cell or perhaps b5. I've read good things about b5 yet never used them. I think it's how it's presented not so much the best boilie. But of course u need the confidence in using a type. has anyone fished a week session? What kilo weight would you reccomend?
  12. Yeah I would always go with what the lake provides, the problem being the lake we are going to will be into its six week of fishing from reopening. So I'm slightly apprehensive on finding info on the net as what is successful at the time.
  13. were booked for a weeks trip to france early next may. but which boilie to take? that is the question. can anyone share any successes they have had? the lake has matrix boilies and pop-ups on sale, these are good right? ive read good things. but what to take as an alternative. go on, pick your brains
  14. I understand what your saying. I hope we go too but that bits out of my hands as I'm not the organiser, but I hope we do. It's heavily booked for 2012 by the way . il have to let you no how we get on if we do end up going there, and compare lol Thanks for the help.
  15. thanks for the feedback, its obvious to me adrian and jenny know how to run a fishery, and like you say its a shame and unlucky of what happened. but im sure they will have it back to its best in no time could you tell me what tactics you used and size hooks, bait, pound line and braid etc. im a novice compared to the blokes i will be going with and it will be my first time in france so thought id do my homework . did you catch many monsters when you went? i hope it has as much action as it had before as the forums tell, was very impressive. hope i have half as much luck also how long travel time did it take from dover? if you drove that is. thanks for the help alan
