  1. We are getting overnight ferry to caen. Purely because its the shortest drive to the lake, which suits us being french fishing first timers!also thought we can sleep on ferry overnight and be fresh for saturday morning and have plenty of time to get their. Been told we cant get their before 1pm. Will also be taking a sat nat to help us along and some euros for tolls etc.
  2. Fishing wise i wasnt planning on changing to much.like you say bigger hooks and baits. To be honest its more the getting their im more worried about!!
  3. Yes friends on fb and making a list is a good idea!!
  4. Well only about 4 months until me and my mate will be going rushes for our first trip to france!! Both already getting a bit excited and both worrying we will forget things, not catch or get lost in france!!! Any tips welcome!!!!
  5. I would love a boxer, but with me and missus working all day it wouldnt be fair to have one. Would have to have it from a pup aswell. My mum and dad got one 2 weeks before i was born so i grew up with him and he was the nicest softy ever.i used to sleep in his basket with him! Yet he was also the best guard dog aswell.always used to check me and my sister were in our beds before he went to bed! I will have one one day but just not practicle at the minute!
  6. Is a great place. Cant believe no one here has got any tips on the place.
  7. Hi all, looked around the ressy yesterday and have got to fish their soon. Any info on the place would be great as no one was fishing to speak to! Iv searched on here but after recent info really! Thanks in advance!!
  8. Hi all.booked onto beaties for a 48 in a couple weeks. Just after some tips ! Cheers in advance
  9. Looking to go stafford moor this weekend if we can get on to beatties. Just after some tips and advice from people who have fished their!!
  10. Thats exactly it.and i havent changed it because why change something thats working.i had blanked for 5-6 sessions and tried combis and had 2 on the place im fishing. Was just wondering how other people use it!!
  11. How long do you have the supple braid on a combi? Iv started using this rig and have so far been doin well on it with the supple bit being about a inch long, blowback style with a small snowman set up. Was talking to someone last time i was fishing and they reckon my braid bit was to long (but its working for me). Also said i shouldnt have a loop knot as it acts as a hinge and wont kick the rig away from lead (even though i slip a bit of tube over the know and quick clip to stop this) So basically just wondering how people set theirs up and for what situations!!
  12. I cant wait to get their.its going to be a long year waiting to go. Still got to book ferrys etc yet aswell. I will be trying to avoid the cats if i can.i read somewhere loads were taken out???
  13. 26th april! Seems it gets booked right up well in advance!!
  14. well just paid deposit to go rushes next year...cant wait now!! going to be a long year till we go now!!
  15. Well after looking at all venues a few times i think we have decided to go rushes lake. So my next question is what would be best way to get their?from what i can see a ferry to caen would get us closest to the lake so would be less driving in france for us. Think euro tunnel to calas is neally 5 hours away? Sorry for all questions but its so much to plan.
  16. ok cool, well mayb driving is a option then and would probably work out cheaper i guess? so if we drove would ferry or train be easier/cheaper? we had thought about all the pressure the lakes get and thats why we would rather a samller runs type water to max out chances of catching. like i say its our first time so dont want to be going to a massave mega hard lake!were not under any illusion it will be 'easy fishing'. thanks
  17. Hi all, looking to go for a week in france next year with 1 or 2 mates.will be first time so havent really got a clue how it all works. Were looking for somewhere thats a kind of a runs water with like 20s,30s and mayb 40s and a smallish lake, nothing to daunting for our first trip.will also be looking for a all inclusive deal with food etc. Also we would prefur like a meet and greet at ferry port in uk so we can take all our gear to port and dont have to worry about driving over in france. Iv been looking at loads of old threads and etc and like the look of moorlands and rushes lakes but do they do pick ups etc? Also closer the lake to port over their the better!! Any advice is a help!!
  18. Hi guys iv got the chance to go alicourts in france next year.cant really find much info on itso wondering if you guys have any info on it.would be my 1st time fishing in france aswell!!
  19. Was havin a chat earlier with a mate and got onto subject of coated or un coated braid! So which do you use for what rig and what bottom?
  20. i went up their for a walk around a couple weeks ago! saw no one so couldnt ask anything about it so id be interested aswell! been told their is fish in their up to 32lb but that was hear say and hasnt been confirmed by anyone!
  21. just got my fluorocarbon, going to use cheap mono for backing line, but what knot do i use? same as for tying mono to spool?
  22. thanks alot for the help chaps! one last question, if i go braid why use the coated stuff?is it just so it sinks better?
  23. thanks jemsu5! that is exactly why im going to be using fluoro as mainline,to help keep the whole lot hidden and to slack line! the other half got me some hooks for xmas, korda wide gape and korda kurv shank so i would like to make use of these really! so am i right in thinking because of the eye angle on these hooks it would be best to use braid? or could i possibly streighten the eye? sorry for all the questions but i want to make sure everything is right and dont want something silly to mess it all up! i basicsally want a couple of rigs, one pop up and one bottom that i can start with and then go on from their!
  24. I did think that rowleycarper but i read people have trouble with knots breaking and you cant use the knotless knot with it?also that it can curl up and needs to be streightend? I was looking at braid as people say its more supple and gives better presentation but their are so many options of braid! Also is it fairley easy to use?
  25. im going to give using fluorocarbon mainline a go and see how i get on with it but i have a couple of questions! first what would you use as a hooklength? (braid/fluoro etc) second, if i go for 15lb main line what lb hooklength should i be using? i no it depends on conditions etc but just a general idea would be good,i have searched it but not come up with alot!! iv been using mono and kind of want to step it up a bit now!
