  1. There are these float type devices on the market now which you can use on your zig which basically allows you to try different depths without having to tie new rigs or cut your length down. All the work is done at the reel i believe.. tempted to get one but ill try a 'original' zig first i think.
  2. Would anyone care to share any tips/locations on the best places to fish for carp on the nene? Ive heard fotheringhay and towards oundle are a good place to start? Wouldn't mind giving it a go soon esp in the summer time.
  3. I have always used quick links for my carp fishing. To be honest to start with it was the only way i knew but i now appreciate the time it saves me changing rigs during sessions etc.. the last thing i wanna be doing is tying a knot with freezing cold hands.
  4. i was thinking of hiding the hook in the bread by simply wrapping bread around it. Watched a dvd the other day and a guy was on it and caught a 25lb mirror from just free lining... i thought must give this a go!
  5. yeah i like the idea of just free lining it. As lazy as it sounds i cant be bothered setting up a rod with floating tackle, it was more just a quick set up idea if i ever saw the fish on the surface.. thanks for the tip tho.
  6. Hi All, For a while now ive been thinking about all the fish i see swimming around on the surface when im fishing (on the bottom). So i was thinking of setting a rod up for a bit of surface fishing, i am thinking of tying a hook straight to my mainline and freelining some bread off the surface. Has anyone had much luck with this method? If so i think at the very least itll give me something to do whilst waiting for the alarms to sound.
  7. Thanks very much nigewoodcock, this is exactly what i was looking for. Will give this a try next time im out on the lake.
  8. Hi all, this may have already been answered but I'm not sure whether the lake I often fish allows leadcore but I'm sure u can't. So my question is what could I use instead of leadcore, and if anyone has any tips or advise I'd be glad to hear it, thanks in advance. Ps I'm new to chod rigs so any advice on best ways to fish them would also be great.
  9. Looks like they are still working on it to be honest. Looks like its going to be a great lake to fish. Has more features now and also an island. I'd have a look on their website thats usually quite up-to-date, failing that give them a ring.
  10. Cafe lake and the res are now joined together..went there last week. Think there's a bit of tidying to be done but the joining of the lakes is done
