  1. Hi All,

I have been using two tone coated braid hooklink for a while now but I have had a few issues recently such as breaks, knots breaking when testing (The knots themselves are tied correctly!) and fraying easily. Can anyone recommend a good all round material please? My lakes have plenty of weed but with silty pitches. Cheers

  2. Yep, think the cats are pushing 30-40 although you dont here of many captures. Had a great season on Geneva one before last but couldn't seem to do a thing right last year. 6 islands an interesting place. Some big carp in there too. Tight lines. If I get any info on Docking will let you know.

  3. Thanks for that. Had a ride over Thursday and met Chris. Gave me some good info. Going to head over in next few weeks. thinking of fishing it until Nar Valley reopens. Been fishing Pentney as my back up but fancied a change. Mind, if it gets sold the new owner could stop all fishing as there is no protective covenant on the lake! Usual rigs and bait?

  4. Thanks for the replies all. Interesting to see everyone's different opinions on the subject. My preference has always been a shorted separation but am beginning to think I may need to lengthen it slightly. As a relative newbie I have always been concerned as to having a long hair and it being too long for a Carp's mouth - daft I know as the mouth is huge but was always slightly neurotic about it. Just part of the learning curve I guess

  5. Just been thinking about rigs for when I finally get back out. I was looking at hair length and tying rigs before getting to the water. How long do people like their hairs on average and do people tie before they go or at the water? What rigs do you tend to have pre-tied, if any?

  6. Had a nightmare! 2 runs, 2 fish lost in the weed! All I had for 4 nights was a bream of about 8lb! Had people over my lines (not strictly their fault as they didn't realize I was there), had 3 grass snakes slither not 2 foot from my feet (scared stiff of the things!) but on the plus side I got good at Mahjong! Gonna give my tackle away if this continues.....then again!

  7. I think some of your members must be members on our lake too! Will give the long chod a try. Have used the snowman with good results last year (up to 26lb 6oz) but the swims have been closed on that side for 2 months while they shift sand. Good thing is its made me explore other areas of the lake. Going this afternoon for 4 nights, fingers crossed.

  8. Hi All,

I have been fishing a large pit that has very thick weed on the bottom (silk and Canadian) which can be anything upto 2 foot long. There are plenty of 'lighter' patches which I have fished into as well as the odd hard patch. My question though is which rig do people favour when fishing into the weed? I have experimented with the choddy, KD, blowback and standard knot less with the hair coming off the bottom of the hook all with/without PVA bags (exc choddy) but I can't seem to settle on one I have confidence with.

    Cheers

  9. Just got back from my second session of he year on Nar Valley and heading back Sunday but had yet another blank. This is my second year on the water and seemed to do ok up until October last year then blanks. Anyone fish Geneva and can give any tips on swims, rigs, baits etc please? I usually ish the snags/suicide on the Causeway but have been on the road side due to the causeway closure. Only thing I have seen move was a flipping big grass snake that slithered across my landing net pole and made me jump out of my skin! Starting to lose a bit of confidence. Thanks all.

  10. Hi All,

Does anyone know anything about a syndicate lake(s) just off the A10 near Watlington please? Have been told that there is one down there that has small membership with very little waiting list but can't find any details. I know there are 2 ex gravel pits just after the roundabout but have never seen anyone fishing there. Any details would be gratefully received.

    Thanks
