I have been fishing for Carp for about 1 month in total after getting my eye in on smaller fish from floats. SUFFOLK WATER PARK I fished the Canal at Suffolk Water Park and quickly filled my boots with a host of small Perch, Roach etc and soon after this I decided to try my hand fishing for some decent sport. I also did a night fish there and the whole lake was silent - no bit alarms or catches at all. It was dire, a friend then joined my for the day, still silence from the big lake. NOWT at all! We then got the float out as it was that bad, and had a couple of tiddlers. Actually an awful time with nobody catching at all. MELTON A friend suggested I try Melton Pits with him and I tagged along. After a few hours I was jarred off watching him pull out 5 fish in 6 hours, the lightest being 22lbs and up to 28. I then had a go on the match lake (over fished with too many runs) they only let you use 1 rod on it (you will catch a load though up to 12lbs) but they have too many swims and limit rods (maximum punters with minimal effort to fish = more cash for them!) this said there are no weeds to clog you up. I had 8 in my first day and 11 on the 2nd. I then decided to do a night on the big lake - nothing, the next day I had 2 runs and lost both in the shocking weed. It is the worst I have ever seen by miles. I came back the following week and decided to give it a go again for just the day. One take but it was a 26.5 lbs monster which I landed. Not bad for 1 months fishing but for me Suffolk Water Park, is too much money and they have moved all the midsized fish out of the lake leaving the big ones left. This to me is daft as you want people to catch and give the place a good review. Poor commercial management if you ask me as not one bit alarm went off at all (both night and day) when I was there! Melton is the spot for me with a few at 30lbs and I am pleased with my 26.5 and they have lowered the weed content since my first trip by quiet some amount.
