  1. Floating baits were banned last time i visited. If you ring them they can can you an update possibly? Lunchon meat or pellets seemed good but caught alot on maggots as well, all sorts including carp. Good luck
  2. Sorry Ryan, have not been fishing since last post!! Have fun
  3. kameleonuk Thanks for the reply, I have heard the same. Agree the licensed bar is a plus point though!!!!
  4. Sorry read your message again so here is the link to the review. If it does not work, use the search facility and put in Sumners Ponds. Thanks http://www.carp.com/carp-forum/viewtopic.php?t=40547&highlight=sumners+ponds

  6. Sorry despite what I said we ended up going to Sumners Ponds as the match lake was free. Sumners Ponds has a review as well on this web site. Worth a visit.
  7. Fished the match lake today with son and daughter. Great Day! Worth phoning the venue to see if the match lake is free of matches as its normally ok to fish as long as everyone is profesional. Meat fished the best today but also caught on corn, maggot and boilie. Float fished about 2 foot out! Bailiff suggested this and be sure it worked, only about 2 foot deep aswell. Caught Barbel to 2lb, Chub about 1/2lb, Roach and Rudd to 3/4lb and Carp biggest today was 7lb but had loads (about 30) between my son and me. Would have been a good size bag if keepnets were allowed. Bailiff said the small pond is fishing better now after spawning messed it up a bit lately. Happy fishing

  9. Fished Sumners Ponds Saturday just gone. Started on the small pond which let me say was packed solid by 7am and fished through to noon with just one run resulting in a small carp, didn't even catch anything with float and maggots. Spoke to the bailiff and he said that its been like it for a while now! Then went with my son to the new 'silver fish' lake and floated corn, maggot, meat (basically anything) and caught a fish a cast! Tench, Golden Tench, Skimmers, Roach, Rudd, Chub and small Barbel all perfect with the biggest tench about 10inchs long about 1lb to 2lb but plenty of them. Great fun, as we had the ledgers set up we tried them but in 6 hours only had one run and 1 fish so float is better, the bailiff came round again and he said that float is the only way! If anyone wants a fun day you have got to try this out.
  10. Thanks everyone, Willinghurst is closer to us and I didn't even know about it!! Thanks we will try it soon, been on the web site, its a bit out of date (2007) but the lakes look great. Henfold here we come this time round.
  11. Carp on ledger and a float rod for anything else really? Personal best for me is 14lb Carp and my boy 8lb Carp, so if there is a possibility of that size or better (ish) it would be good. Thanks
  12. Hello guys, Been fishing Sumners Ponds which is going through a rough time at the moment! Possibly just a glitch, and want to try Henfold Lakes on Friday. Anyone got any tips and as its got 6 lakes what one should my boy and I fish?
  13. Thanks for your reply, perhaps I will get some more.
  14. Got a holiday coming up next to Ullswater Lake and wondered if anyone can point me in the direction of how to fish it? Not into Fly Fishing so perhaps ledgering? Thanks in advance.
  15. Good Luck chaps, Have a great time, fingers crossed the biggey!!!! will come out for ya.
  16. Hi, We live local to Epsom and when my son and me started fishing again we went to the Stew Ponds to have a look and spoke to a couple of anglers fishing. They both said that everything is ledger as its quite deep and it is appently 'well' over fished. Again apparently, it has a problem with kids in the summer evenings. I must say that I only got this from the two guys at the pond, I dont know of anything for definate. The only other place is Old Bury Hill Lakes in Dorking, I know its not Sutton/Epsom but its the only one I would recommend for an evenings fishing. Have fun
  17. Cant say yes for definate as its a weekday.
  18. My sister in law has just moved into a house on the same road as 'The Old Quarry' which is a lovely looking pond with well maintained swims? The picture board at the entrance show quite a few good size Carp. Has anyone fished it as want to try it next weekend? Any advice would be good as will be going with my Son, so don't want to blank if possible!!!
  19. thanks for all the advice, my son and I used a lubricated (Spit) half blood knot yesterday and although it was not fully tested it certainley didn't break or come away. Reading through all the replies it seems that perhaps we need to get 'updated' on knots. Much appriciated to all. I think we are planning to sit up the kitchen table with hooks and line and the lap top acting as teacher to try them out and learn a few inside out. Thanks again.
  20. Had a good day on the small pond with numerous fish topped by 2x8lb Commons but nothing bigger this time. Spoke to Alan the bailiff about how the big lake is fishing to which he said anything is catching them recently. I spoke to a couple of people and they recommended lunchon meat with sweet chilli sauce added, another was using home made boilies another was sweetcorn? No help really other than its fishing ok, the odd hot days followed by rain is not helping to steady the fishing but does not seem to matter as the fish are taking whatever! Let me know how you get on? Regards
  21. Thanks for that, just getting back into it after a few years (15) off! Trying to teach my son the way forward. Thanks for the help.
  22. Used a basic rig with a hair to a swivel but the 1/2 blood knot came apart right at the last knockings!!!! Is a 1/2 Blood Knot good enough as looking at forums on rigs, the swivel is within a loop and not tied direct? Any thoughts please? By the way its with 8lb line catching (Sometimes) Carp up to 20lb average size 6lb-8lb. This knot has held up to 13lb before unless I was just lucky????
  23. No worries. My mate lives in Horsham and fish's regular so I will post any update I can get. You coming with a caravan then or just for one night!!! Thats dedication if its just for the fishing,
  24. OK, Fishing the small lake as we find it challenging and we want to beat our 13 1/2 pound personnal best for this lake. My son got snapped up last week by a good 20lb er!! Try again this weekend. I'll let you know Have fun
